It's Been A While...

...since we last added to the Dead Goblin Count. It's high-time we started running the score up...

Homeowner Shoots, Kills Intruder After House Is Burglarized A Third Time
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - A man is dead after police say he tried to break into someone's house. The incident happened around 3:40 a.m. Monday in the 1900 block of East College. The homeowner told police a man and two females entered his home and tried to burglarize it. The resident shot the man and the two females fled. The suspect was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Police say the home had also been burglarized on Saturday and Sunday. Police say charged are not expected against the resident. The suspect is described as a 45 year old black male.

That floors me. "The suspect"? WTF? Dude's found dead in the guy's living room with a sucking chest wound. Homeowner is not being charged. There ain't no "suspect" about it - that's one Grade A Dead Goblin.

And on another note, you have to wonder if, in the grand scheme of karmic retribution, if the recently deceased was responsible for the first two burglaries. Did he just not get it all the first two times? If so, TFB - greed'll get you killed. If not, there's some powerful juju at work here. In any case, scratch another Bad Guy from the ranks of Sumdood's army.

Dead Goblin Count: 35.

That is all.

"Dude's found dead in the guy's living room with a sucking chest wound."

Trust me on this: Once the subject is dead, the chest wound ceases to be a sucking chest wound, as no expansion of chest (inhalation)= no negative pressure in chest = no sucking ..... Though I am POSITIVE it sucked for the goblin in question, up until he stopped (attempting to ) take breaths, or shortly thereafter. After that, his problems in this world are over, though I wouldn't bet on smooth sailing in the next, were I him.

"Innocent Until Proven Guilty" doesn't seem to apply in this case.

Newspapers actually get sued sucesfully for refering to a perp as anything other than "defendant" or "suspect" prior to conviction. I know it's screwy, but it's necessary.

And remember, sometimes in an "open and shut" case it turns out they got the wrong guy. Hence suspect is used for everyone.

It just avoids problems. It's not a position paper on the incident.
