First question . . . is radaronline a reliable news source?

Conservative Justice leaving during an Obama administration?

No way in hell.

Oh, I don't consider them to be a reliable source.

What I do find interesting is that someone put that rumor out there.

Who?

And, just as importantly, Why?

Who benefits from Roberts stepping down?

I blame the Federalist Society. Because they're wicked mysterious, and not to be trusted.

By the New York Times, anyway.

It looks like Radar Online has retracted their story.

And, just as importantly, Why?

Lots of hits and get their name out there.

It's worked for Politico.

Really more to the point: What political reasons?

Seriously, we've had Supreme Court justices in the past that were falling asleep on the bench, going senile, several sigma outside of normal mentally, and none of them have been removed under the "good behavior" clause.

What is so bad that they think Congress is going to make impeachment hearings that would survive review by the rest of the justices, as they would be in the position to determine the Constitutional meaning of "good behavior", since no other statute clarifying this exists. Making some clarifying statute for "good behavior" after the fact would be ex post facto.

A felony, yeah, that would be open and shut, but first there have to be charges and convictions.

My guess ..... if you want something to be true bad enough, you start believing it, and it might slip out....

Well, the Roberts story may not have been true, but it appears this one is:
Representative William Delahunt (D-Mass.) will not seek reelection, the Boston Globe is reporting. "It's got nothing to do with politics," Delahunt told the Globe.
Yuh huh.

The story is false. It was a fake story given to a law school class who then twitter'd and e-mailed it around the globe.

No doubt everyone in the faculty lounge wished it were true.

Remember the weekly "story" of Karl Rove getting frog marched out of the White house, replete with photo-shopped images?

Yeah, like that; wishful thinking on the part our our collective enemies. Always consider the source, that said:

"Doubt everything you read, and half of what you see."
