There's a great part that illustrates why you should carry inside your house:A Springfield man with a long criminal record collapsed in the street and died after being shot in the leg during an apparent botched robbery early Tuesday.
Derek L. Brown, 29, of the 1500 block of East South Street also had been found responsible for paralyzing a man for life in a car crash that occurred while he was fleeing from police in 2002.
The intended victim in Tuesday’s robbery, Rueben Applewhite, 21, told police he was inside his apartment and heard a knock on the door. He went to the door and asked who was there. He heard someone outside, and as he started to open the door, two men in the hall — one of whom allegedly was Brown — fired a gun through the door.Got that? Brown started shooting before the door was open. What do you think would have happened to Applewhite if he hadn't been armed? You think Brown would have apologized for shooting him in the finger, or shot him - and anyone else in that apartment - dead? I choose Door #2, Monte.

Brown was sentenced (in 2006) to six years for fleeing and eluding and eight years for possession of a weapon by a felon. He was paroled June 16 (2009).

The end of the article has a list of all the other two-man robberies that the local PD is trying to attribute to this pair. I have my doubts that they're the perps in every one and I won't cry about this goblin being taken out.

Must've been God's Own Caliber, as used in His Own Pistol... because no candy-ass 9mm or .40 short'n'weak would've killed him with a leg shot!
