Isn't Technology Amazing?

I'm sitting in a Bob Evan's having lunch before checking in to Disney and the madness that is a Disney vacation. We survived the long car ride, stopped into the largest Harley Davidson dealer in the US, and are currently a half-hour outside of Orlando.

And I am typing this post on my iTouch while enjoying the free wi-fi - life is good!

That is all.

Last time I was there I was stunned to see how big and congested Orlando has become in the last 20 years.

You're doing the 'smart' thing by staying IN Disney... trying to get there from a hotel everyday is enough to drive one NUTS... Glad the trip is going well and everyone is behaving, even you :-)

If you had time, I would recommend sending Momma and the kids off to Disney tomorrow and then sliding yourself down to Lakeland for the gun show running there today and tomorrow...

I'll second emdfl on the Lakeland show (it's the Pistol Club show, far superior to the Suncoast tour IMO)...it's less than an hour from Disney on I-4 and it's one of the best shows in the South; prepare for some culture shock, though:) I was there this morning (we're about an hour southeast of Lakeland and an hour due south of the Mouse) and wrote about it over at Tam's under her OC survey post. There's an awesome fly-in air show there this weekend too!

But it's family time, I'm sure you'll stay with them, and I think you guys will luck out at Disney as to the crowds; my son went to Epcot Wednesday and Thursday and said the percentage of Brits was significant; what with the volcano, they can't get here right now and that should have a significant impact on waiting times.

Hope you and your family have a great time in Fla, Jay (not that Disney is particularly representative of the rest of the place). Sometimes I forget to appreciate what we have here, you know, familiarity breeding contempt and all.

In Orlando? Last time I was in Orlando, all the service personnel were from Jersey and Boston... Heck, except for the heat and humidity, Jay might feel right at home.

Dixie: "(culture shock) In Orlando?"

Nope, that part of the discussion was about the Lakeland gun show...bearing in mind where Jay is from he'd probably be constantly and suspiciously looking over his should thinking the whole thing is a set-up :)

As to Orlando and its service personnel he would be better served to take a quick RosettaStone course en espanol.

wv: couse...how they say "course" on Jay's home turf; they don't say theyah ah's up theah...

Heh. It's easy to spot ATF agents at a Southern gun show. They'll be the only ones wearing wind breakers...
