Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is, unless you've been living under a rock, Buy A Gun Day. The general idea is that we take back "Tax Day" (or "Forcible Asset Forfeiture Day" if you will) and send a message to those who would rule us and purchase a firearm on (or around) April 15th each year. It's a mostly symbolic gesture, but, realistically, what isn't these days. Besides, you get a new gun - there's simply no downside to it...

This year, owing to the fact that I will be leaving for Disney on the 15th, I'll be making my BAG Day purchase a little on the late side, but there will be something. I know others have already gotten their BAG Day purchase, and still others are working on builds that may or may not be completed by tomorrow.

What I'm asking is this: If you've made a BAG Day purchase and are posting it on your blog, please send me a link. For commenters, send a picture and the name under which you comment. Basically, I'm curious to see what everyone else is getting and also would like to get a feel for what kind of participation we're seeing across the gun blogosphere. And you can never have enough gun pr0n to drool over...

So send in those links and pics!

That is all.

Did mine a little early. Picked up a Marlin 60 on April 6th. Got a chance to shoot it over the weekend and boy howdy it was a hoot.

I put in orders for tech sights, a USGI web sling, and sling mounts so that I can use the Marlin 60 for a future Appleseed event sometime down the road.

Jay,

Not only have I made a B.A.G. Day purchase but is the anniversary of my first post where I showed off my previous purchase.

Seeing you post that previous picture (Taurus Millennium Pro PT-145) finally convinced me to start my own blog.

I'll send a link to tomorrow's post.

I've bought a frame, slide, and parts for a custom 1911 I intend to build. I'll be picking them up tomorrow, and starting the long process of turning them into an actual gun.

I've put in a pile of parts orders to finally finish the NES AR lower I bought in 2008. The barrel will be another few weeks. Maybe I'll revive my blog to post about it when it's done. :)

Picked up a Ciener .45-to-.22 conversion kit at the Friends of the NRA banquet/auction on Saturday.

Just got back from the store with a Springfield 1911, my first handgun!

I'll be getting a membership at the range, and they'll let me shoot my AR there too.

I've had a pile of 1911 parts and a 60% frame I've been chewing away on for a while, but it took BAG day to get me off my butt. ;)

Oh, and it's looking like I'll be moving to MA in 6 months or so. I'll be in touch about that!

Long time reader, first comment- thanks for the blog!

No post or pics, due to an anti-gun employer and customers, but I picked up a Browning BDM a couple days ago for BAG day.
Am debating whether there is enough $$ left to get a micro compact Springfield 1911 and put in an ambi safety myself.

Here is what I spent my refund on, but got it a little early

I just ordered some Tech Sights for my 10/22--I'll put up some pictures when they get here.

I'll be picking up a S&W 15-22 I put on layaway at the local fun shop last Saturday. I anticipate much inexpensive fun will be had in my backyard this weekend.

Have fun with the giant rodent.

IZinterrogator said...

I'm paying down the layaway on a Remington M24. If the antis are going to complain about those evil sniper rifles, aka scoped hunting rifles, then I'm really going to send them into advanced stages of PSH by getting an actual sniper rifle.

Jay, I picked up a Stoeger Coach gun in blue and walnut, but it was a little late to get it by tomorrow. I'll post the pictures sometime after the 21st.

Like some others I got a 15-22 for BAG Day. Purdy pictures are here.

Ruger SR-9

Jay, I keep meaning to send a shot of it to you for Friday Gun Pr0n showing all six 17-round mags loaded. That's also be the email I keep meaning to send telling you that you're linked on my blog. :)

Unfortunately, today quickly became "Buy New Alternator And Serpentine Belts." Now I'm driving around what should have been a nice K-frame...

The Big Brown Truck of Happiness just dropped off what I needed to finish my first AR. Now I get to ACCESSORIZE!

Basic black, so it matches my boots, belt, and Utilikilt!

Got mine early, although I'm not sure if the purchases count: one of the area shops took in a T/C collector's estate and the weekend before last they dropped the asking prices by a considerable amount. I scored a custom shop 15" stainless Contender barrel w. integral brake and one piece rings/bases installed, chambered for .357/44 B&D, including dies and brass and THEN after it preyed on my mind for a week I went back last weekend and grabbed its' sibling in .218 Bee. $150 apiece and both looked new.

If barrels don't count for BAGD, I was back in that same shop the day after getting that first Contender barrel for a used Marlin 1895CC 20" .45-70.... ;^) It's shown sandwiched between a couple of .32-20s I fell into earlier this year at

Ooops! To get to the BAGD album, that last should've been:

does it count if I just made a deal to trade one gun for two?

My wonderful bride and family CFO gave me the green light to buy a Midwest Industries railed forearm for my AR-180B... Evidently they make only one run of them a year, as they go outta stock pretty quick! Not quite a full gun but it will make my AR-180B's defective scope mount obsolete!

I haven't commented on your blog before, but I've been reading it for a while now. I'm all excited! I'm putting off my purchase because I'm moving to Seattle from the San Francisco Bay Area. I'll finally be able to buy a non-neutered AR! Wheee!

I think I'll start with a lower and build it up from there due to cash considerations (and it's fun to build things).

I really enjoy your blog, keep up the good work. And have a great trip to Florida!

Refund? REFUND? What is this refund of which you speak? I had to pay the IRS big time.

Probably my intended BAG Day purchase, a Kel-Tec PMR-30, will be actually available to purchase when I can once again afford it.

Oh yeah, and you're on my blogroll.
