Fascinating!

SCI-FI hipped me to this intriguing link from Forbes.com:

Map: Where Americans Are Moving
More than 10 million Americans moved from one county to another during 2008. The map below visualizes those moves. Click on any county to see comings and goings: black lines indicate net inward movement, red lines net outward movement.
The map itself is interactive - you can go click on any county in any state. Here's just one county in eastern Massachusetts:

Mass Exodus

Looks like I'm not the only one planning on getting the hell out of Massachusetts, eh?

That is all.

Compare that to any county in NH. Specifically, look at all the snowbirds fleeing south to Florida from Rockingham county (very bottom right)lightweights.

Yeah, it's all oldsters. Hit up nebraska. A few folks moved a couple counties over. I don't blame them. I wouldn't move to Florida for a million dollars even if the state was full of beer volcanos and stipper factories.

Okay, now that is interesting!

The south looks like a black hole and the northeast looks like a super-nova.

Oh, I'm sorry, I meant the low tax states look like a black hole and the high tax states look like a super-nova.

just keep flying over Iowa. No jobs, no culture, nothing to do, state income taxes and the weather sucks.

I just hope they learned and don't vote for all the stupid plans and politicians that make MA, CA, and NY suck so much.

Oh gawd, click on Detroit.

Unfortunately, parts of NH and other places are attracting carpet baggers fleeing the liberal hellholes, which tends to change the makeup of the voters. Hillsborough and Rockingham counties are losing population after a long infiltration of gimmee girls. Might be retiring boomers or it might be people like me who are fed up with Mass-lite.

...... can we go back and have Jay do a post on which state CONTAINS the Beer Volcanoes and Stripper Factories that N.J.T. so nicely described?

Yeah, but it, along with New Hampshire, basically chooses who our nominees will be for president. How in the world we ended up with THAT as our benchmark is beyond me.

As a resident of Florida, I must point out that northern Florida is nothing like the festering hell-hole that is South Florida.
