Friday Gun Pr0n #171

Since I talked about 1911s yesterday, I wanted to put up some 1911 gun pr0n today. I really wanted to drag out the 1911s (and 1991A1s) in the G. armory and get a family photo, but I was out late retrieving TheBoy from his week at Scout Camp and just didn't have the time or energy to drag out the camera for the photo. Plus, believe it or not, there's no Commander-sized 1911 in the G. armory, a hole that I'm not certain I will fill (unless I come across a screamin' deal...).

So I dug through my NRA convention pictures for some 1911 goodness:

Government

That's a Remington R1 Government model 1911 right there. Very nice gun. Wish it were MA legal.

Commander

Springfield Armory Champion Commander model 1911. Very nice gun. Wish it were MA legal.

Officer's

Colt Series 90 Defender Officer's model 1911. Very nice gun. Wish it were MA legal.

Sense a trend?

That is all.

Jay,
Two comments . . .
1) City of Chicago also implemented a "safe to purchase" list similar to the MA & CA list.

2) Xav at "Xavier Thoughts" has a lengthy write up on what to look for when purchasing a used 1911 pattern pistol. Probably worth a read, even for the person wanting to purchase a NIB 1911.

Trend ... trend ... pattern ... theme ... commonality ...

Oh!

They're all single-action semi-autos with a grip safety, thumb safety, and single-stack magazine, chambered in .45ACP, God's Own Caliber, as delivered by his prophet JMB, PBUH.

Oh, and I can buy them and you can't. Neener neener! :-D

So? When are you leaving Mass. and moving to America?

w/v = "incent" What most defendants say they are.

Wait, you can't by 1911s in mASS? That's wrong on so many levels.

Wait, maybe I've got y'all mixed up with someone else, but didn't a war start in Massachusetts a while back 'cause the government was being to oppressive and trying to disarm its subjects?

We can't buy non-APPROVED 1911s in MA, Raptor.

Most of Smith & Wesson's offerings, I think some of the Sig 1911s, most Paras, and AutoOrdnance are okay.

Kimbers, Springfield Armory, Les Bauer, etc are all too unsafe for MA residents.

(Picture this said with about as much derision as the human body is capable of...)

Aye! Vote with your feet! (Nebraska is nice.)

As for Mass. having a "list".... just one more way for the .gov to pick winners (their cronies) and losers (everybody else).

1911's aren't LEGAL in MA?

I had no idea it was that bad.

Dude. Para's with the high cap mags are legal, yet a WW2 era Slab Slide isn't? Sure glad the Navy let me wear one when my ship was going thru overhaul in the old shipyard in Southie during the winters of 78-79 and 79-80. Wonder how the local pols would have felt know we carried a couple with us to the Fed Reserve to get cash for payday? Dude.

The EOPS list needs to go...it is worthless, doesn't actually make the firearms for sale any "safer" (as can be seen with the safety recalls that periodically crop up on guns deemed safe enough for us to have), drives up prices of used guns (add 100-200 for any glock, here, though mentioning a glock on a post about 1911s probably violates the natural order of the universe), and just plain sucks.

We, for the moment, can get around such idiocy by doing a face to face transfer with used guns (both my 1911s aren't on the list...), but once they steamroll H.4102 through we'll be stuck

You have to wonder how much less Haterage Jay would have if he moved a little further North...I know I've been developing quite a case since moving into MA last year...
