A 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near the Gaithersburg, Maryland, area just after 5 a.m. ET Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The center of the quake was about 20 miles northwest of Washington, the USGS said.Sadly, it wasn't leveled. Hell, it wasn't even slowed down. They'll be back to raising our taxes and restricting our freedoms before lunchtime, although odds are pretty good that they'll vote themselves some hazard pay because of the quake... Obviously we're all glad that nobody was injured or killed, but couldn't it have done some significant damage that meant they'd have to call a 6 or 7 month recess? Please?
"It was really loud, like a plane flying really low. I had never felt anything like it," said Anne Ngunjiri, 30, of Gaithersburg. "I was jolted out of bed. All my neighbors woke up. After it passed, I thought it could be an earthquake, and lay in bed hoping there were no aftershocks."
The less time those @$$holes are in DC, the better off we all are...
That is all.

Time to ban earthquakes. Or at least restrict them to one earthquake a month. After all, IT'S FOR THE KIDS!
We obviously need a law banning high capacity earthquakes...
It woke me up this morning. Bedside table lamps were rattling. Felt like a semi-tractor going by in the front yard.
The Baltimore/DC area periodically gets these. I'm sure CA residents snicker when they read all the fuss about a 3.6...
You need a lot more than a 3.6 to do damage, that's like shooting someone with a .25ACP - it's just a minor aftershock that causes some anxiety and an angry response..
hay hay hay, a bigger quake would have probably shaken my house a bit.
no thanks. i avoid Cali for many reasons, and big quakes are one of them.
