Death penalty disputed in Conn. home invasion case
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—One of two men charged with killing a mother and her two daughters in a home invasion in which the girls were tied to their beds and their house set on fire said the death penalty is too cruel to be permitted.
Attorneys for Steven Hayes argue that the Connecticut legislature's decision to abolish the death penalty last year means executions should no longer be permitted, even though Gov. M. Jodi Rell vetoed the bill.

Let's get one thing straight right now. Drawing and quartering these SOBs would not be too cruel. Dropping them feet-first into an industrial shredder would not be too cruel. Allowing rabid wolverines to eat their intestines while they watched in horror would not be too cruel. A quick, clinical, and pain-free date with a needle is far too nice for what these bastards really deserve. At the minimum they should be beaten to death by family members of the victims. They beat the father, strangled the mother to death, then tied two little girls to their beds and set the house on fire. NOTHING is too cruel of a punishment for that.
I'll close here, because I'm starting to scare myself with thoughts of the kind of violence I'd like to inflict on these scumbags...

If, God forbid, this was my family, I would be in favor of a suspended sentence. Please. please release them.
As the rest of my family is dead at their hands, I would be able to devote all my time and energy into... you know, justice.

The bill was voted on, but has been vetoed, and yet the death penalty should not be permitted? Do these morons understand the word "veto"? Or is the law what they wish it to be in their pink sunglasses rainbow-farting flying unicorns dreamworld?
In the eye for an eye world, the fair punishment would be to tie them up and burn them. You want to be humane? Soak them in gasoline to make it faster.
The way it is, our system is already humane enough. One would think that 8th Amendment and decisions based on it, like Wilkerson v Utah would be enough of a restriction, and the capital punishments that we do have in place are about as humane as they can be without losing the name "punishment".

It's a stupid argument, but the attorneys are doing their jobs, exactly the way they're supposed to - they're just grasping at straws because that's all they can do. I doubt they really expect that argument to go anywhere, but they do have a professional duty to try it if it's the best chance they've got to keep him from his rightful fate.
I'll save my rage for if the judge actually buys this garbage.
This is one of the few cases where I think the death penalty is warranted. But do it in public, and make their punishment similar to the way their victims died. Hang them with a blundered knot until they almost choke out, then set them on fire after dunking them into a vat of kerosene.
Now THAT is a deterrent.
I go with hanging them with a bad knot over a fire. We can see if they burn or choak to death first. They deserve no better. . .

You forget this is the Liberal Land of Connecticut! While the crimes seem horrible, remember the mother was raped and STRANGLED, and the girls chocked on the smoke from the thugs burning their house down.
That's nothing serious...remember there was sexual assault, assault, attempted murder, 3 counts of murder, and arson...but no GUN charges.
Yep no "Gun Crime" or "Gun Violence" or "Gun Death".
This is EXACTLY how the world should be according to these people!
Actually, just remembered what an old guy who used to live on the the other side of the hills from my Hungarian Ancestors used to do. Let's see, Stake with a crossbar about 18 inches down from the point, pig fat, tallow, oil. Insert stake into ground, point up, place evil thing on stake, slowly. There are certain times where a lynch mob would serve a higher purpose. On of warning evil people that this town is not the place to commit a horror like this. That if you do, you can expect nothing but a howling mob and a rope.
This is one of those times.
But of course, demo-rats think late term abortion is fine, but killing a murdering scumbag is cruel. Maybe because the scumbag will vote demo-rat. Hence the big push to register felons to vote.

I'd go with flay them, and chain them to a big barrel of water, and leave them out in a salt desert. Let them drink and prolong their agony should they so wish.
