The Count Picks Right Up...

...where it left off last week.

Man kills one home invader, injures another, police say
HANOVER TWP. — One suspected home invader is dead and another injured after the two men were shot by a resident who was trying to defend himself, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning, Aug. 8, in the 1100 block of Beissinger Road. Two black males entered the home, assaulted a man and demanded money, according to a press release from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Again, a story with multiple home invaders. And, yet again, examples of stellar MSM reporting when it comes to firearms:
He then fired at them with an automatic weapon.

I will bet $100 it was a semi-automatic weapon. Something tells me he didn't happen to have a registered machine gun handy as his home defense weapon - especially not when even the cheapest full auto is running $3-$4K... Not exactly something you want sitting in an evidence locker for months/years...

Dead Goblin Count: 58

That is all.

Hat tip to Patrick at Where Angels Fear to Tread for the link! Also be sure to wish him a happy birthday!

Sure, it probably wasn't a real automatic - although that "AUTOMATIC Colt Pistol" thing can be misleading - but can you imagine what the goblin would've looked like after a mag dump from the .22 at Blogshoot? *evil chuckling ensues*

The HK416 would get the job done better, though... :)

Probably not ... although one can never be sure of anything out in the boonies of southwest Ohio. Not uncommon in those parts to see a farmhouse with a silo, barn complete with "Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco" paint job, and 1950s-era pickup truck in the front yard ...

... right next to the four-foot-wide satellite dish.

Anyway, in this case any error belongs to the Butler County Sheriff's Office -- the news story is taken almost verbatim from the sheriff's press release.

I also wonder just how stupid these goblins were. The story says they were armed with a "small caliber handgun" and attacked the homeowner with it -- but it doesn't sound like he was actually shot. It sounds more like he was clubbed or pistol-whipped. Weird.

Only $100? On the MSM being wrong about guns?

The thought of somebody snatching an old BAR up from where it was leaning in the corner and cutting loose on a couple of home invaders would make for some grins. Not too mention a severe need for an underwear change for the goblins!

Also, using an NFA weapon in self defense is a bad idea politically. Read about the Gary Fadden incident here: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_168_28/ai_112685749/?tag=content;col1

Short version, guy is attacked by outlaw bikers, fires warning *burst* from Ruger AC556, biker utters one of the stupidest last words ever, "F*** you and your high powered rifle! I'm gonna kill you motherf***ers!" and charges him with knives.

Good guy spends $45,000 plus a bunch of needless suffering defending himself in a murder trial.

Alright Jay.. Dayton isn't the boonies of southwest Ohio. We have McDonald's, Rally's, Sonic, and real grocery stores...

:)

Hey wait, Butler County is where football jesus was.....

It has gotten to where I just fill in the "semi" when the press starts talking abut automatic weapons. They're always called automatics around here.

Wasn't in Dayton, Patrick. The address given in the article traces to the northwest part of Hamilton! (yes, Jay, the ! is part of the city name. It's Ohio. Desperate to be taken seriously, y'know?) A bit upscale from, say, eastern Warren County, I'll grant you, but not exactly Da Big City.

Ah, but we pretty much claim anything north of Cincy, right? EVERYTHING is Dayton around here.

And as for the !, that is news to me. Their own website doesn't list it with a !.

I wonder why the Butler County Sheriffs office thought it was so important to mention the Perps as "Black Males", while showing pictures of the home and describing the "empty beer cans" piled on the side. I think Race AND Elitist cards are being played here! Why, I bet you the Newsie was SHOCKED to find out he couldn't get a half-caf latte w/foam at the local gas station!

I think Ayoob had an article about a guy that had a gun dealership that was broken into at night, and he used a full auto (plus other guns) to confront the perps and he didn't get into trouble for it.
