Not Surprising...

GOP pounces on Obama for mosque remarks
Republicans on Sunday criticized President Obama for comments about a proposed mosque near New York's ground zero, suggesting that the matter will escalate into a significant campaign issue leading into the November midterm elections.

The president made his remarks at a Friday Ramadan service, but he quickly clarified them Saturday, undermining backers of the project who had cheered what they thought was White House support and prompting Republican accusations that Mr. Obama is prone to bad judgment.
Well, yeah, the GOP is the opposition party. They're supposed to seize on political blunders of their ideological opponents. Water wet and all that. What's interesting, though, is that this is getting any traction at all. Let's face it - this was a collosal mistake for Øbama. While it is very true that the First Amendment gives the backers of the mosque every right in the world to build their mosque in NYC in the shadow of the 9/11 attacks, we don't have to like it. Øbama could have chosen to make the point that our Constitution works best when it protects that which we don't agree with - but then again, he'd be forced to admit it protects the right to keep and bear arms.

What's also interesting, as Alan points out, is that his own staff is walking away from this statement, at least as far as one unnamed official is concerned. It's quite telling that his own people want nothing to do with this - everyone but Øbama, it seems, knows that this is a losing issue for everyone involved (except, perhaps, the folks behind the construction of the mosque). One has to wonder, though, if there's an ulterior motive behind all of this - such as creating a faux controversy over the mosque (which most folks will forget in a couple of months) to drown out the news that the "recovery" is failing...

And, lastly, it's good to know that our President has time for a Ramadan dinner but not the 100th anniversary of Scouting...

That is all.

First off, my family is Scots-Irish, meaning my ancestors have been kicked out of three perfectly good countries because we couldn't play nice with the state religion.

But this attempt to put up a mosque next to Ground Zero isn't a play for tolerance or an expression of free speech, it's a purposeful attempt to advance the cause of the Muslim Brotherhood in America. It's like putting up a statue to the Emperor Hirohito at Pearl Harbor in 1950 or an Aryan Nations recruiting center in Oklahoma City.

Yes, we have the right of free speech in America. But we do not have the right to provoke a catastrophic response by yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater, and that's exactly what this mosque is.

One of the first things we learned on a recent trip to India was that it is common practice for the invading Muslim armies to build Mosques a soon as possible and preferably on the ruins of the previous Temple.

As others have pointed out.......

It's the "Touchdown Dance Mosque".

That just became my quote of the day...

The "recovery" is failing because there is no recovery, never was.

"We're in an economic recovery" is much like "The U.S. Mexico border is the safest it's been in years.

Flat out lies coming from this corrupt, incompetent administration.

My favorite about this was this morning on WMUR news from Manchester, NH. They mentioned that the GOP has jumped on this as a way to over shadow the upcoming midterm elections. They went on to say democrats are hoping to draw the average voters attention away from this this and TO the economy... (seriously... I'm not making this up)
