Happiness is a quiet rifle
That's a Thompson Center Arms Encore in .45 ACP with an SWR suppressor, 4X scope, and bipod. This gun is so quiet that we shot it without hearing protection (using subsonic ammunition) with no discomfort. The "thump" of the round hitting the target is almost louder than the report of this rifle, that's how thorough a job the suppressor does.
Interestingly enough, this was the quietest gun brought to the Bloggershoot, with several suppressed .22LR pistols and rifles in close contention for second place. Even as quiet as it was, though, I wouldn't want to shoot it for any length of time without hearing protection - while the suppressor does in fact reduce the noise level substantially, it does not make the gun "whisper quiet". There's a reason they're called "suppressors" rather than "silencers".
It sure was a blast to shoot, though, that's for certain!
That is all.
