A Bad Day, Defined...

State Police Commander Hit By Alleged Drunk Driver
SHREWSBURY (WBZ) ― A woman who was allegedly driving drunk in Shrewsbury appears to have picked the wrong vehicle to run into.

Col. Marian McGovern, the commander of the state police, was waiting at a red light on Route 20 early Monday when authorities said her unmarked cruiser was rear-ended by 51-year-old Donna Sclamo of Worcester.
Oopsie! Strike one: Driving while intoxicated. Strike two: Hitting the unmarked police car driven by the commanding officer of the MA State Police. Strike three: Having this as your fifth drunk driving offense:
According to state police, she has four previous drunken driving offenses on her record.
Four. Previous. Offenses. Once again, the MA "justice" system is waiting for her to kill someone before they take any action. I'm guessing that she's going to get stuffed in a hole for this one, given that she hit the MSP chief, but if it had been you or I, who knows? The story is admittedly short on details, but we can assume that since that the penalty for a third DUI offense is 8 years in jail, and 10 for a fourth, she did not serve her entire sentence either time...

MA: You're more likely to encounter a repeat offender drunk driver on the road here...

That is all.

Yes, but then she would be in jail and not able to work or drive. Whooops, that was the whole idea, right?

That is strike 3 + about 4 foul balls

Only four. That would get you like a month in jail here in Montana. We don't lock'em up for long until at least 6. Some people get away with it up till 10 or 11 over the course of 30 years.

10 years for a DUI. In a pig's eye, and THAT is the problem with the legal system that makes. me. sick.

Everyone knows that 10 years isn't really 10 years. Oh, if you kill somebody, sure. But just for driving drunk, when the po-po's got you before you did anything stupid? 10 years? Nah, just 30 days, maybe 60 if you're a douchebag to the cops.

So when suzi soccermom hears you can get 5 years for having a dozen(12!) rounds in your mag she wonders “What's the fuss?”

They never see the problem.

I wish that were true, but in NM we regularly had feature stories of folks being arrested for their 12th, 13th, etc. It makes me sick.
