No Wonder My Head Hurts!

Hospital: Drill-bit piece accidentally left in patient's head
(CNN) -- A prominent Rhode Island hospital says a piece of a medical drill bit was accidentally left in a patient's head during surgery and later had to be removed.

"On August 4, a small piece of a drill bit used during a procedure broke off and was not accounted for at the end of the procedure, as is required by one of our policies," Rhode Island Hospital in Providence said this week in a statement released by hospital spokeswoman Ellen Slingsby.

You know who I really feel bad for in this story (well, aside from the poor patient who had to go back in for more surgery, of course)? The poor SOB who had to make that phone call. Think about that call:

[Hospital Rep] "Um, yes, Mr. Johnson? We have some bad news about your recent surgery."

[Mr. Johnson] "Oh, no, it's cancer, isn't it?"

[Hospital Rep] "Um, not quite."

[Mr. Johnson] "Blood clot?"

[Hospital Rep] "Um, not quite."

[Mr. Johnson] "Okay, what is it?"

[Hospital Rep] "Well, we kinda left part of a drill bit inside your skull."

[Mr. Johnson] {click}

[Mr. Johnson] "What's the name of that lawyer again?"

Something tells me that this is going to be one of the most expensive drill bits in history...

That is all.

Luckly they figured it out before he went in for a MRI. That would have hurt!

Forget gun control, what we need is doctor control.

Living in Mass, it's worse than a drill-bit in the head.

I saw the MRI to prove it. I live in Mass, so I can't buy the guns I want, or real magazines...but at least the doctors left nothing in my wife's head but brains!

Well, it was only a drill, had it been an actual...
