Northcoast Bloggershoot AAR #2: Pics!

Strap in, this is gonna be a long one. Here are some pictures from this weekend's Northcoast Bloggershoot. They're going in rough chronological order, with pics from the start of the shoot posted first:

We gather at Heath and Amanda's house:

Invasion of the Gunnies!

We had lots of cool targets to shoot at:

Nice Jugs!

Here's the 25 yard range:

Good Day for a Shoot

And a closeup of the targets:

Goodbye Teddy

Some of the gear:

Wagon #1

(There was a second wagon equally loaded. We easily had enough ordnance to take over the rest of the western hemisphere)

I started off the festivities with a bang:

Big gun

That's a Thompson Center Arms Contender. It's chambered in .45-70. They thought it would be funny to hand me a handgun chambered in a round used to hunt buffalo...

I wasn't the only one who shot it:

Makin' It Look Easy

That's Mike, who really doesn't have hands the size of coal shovels, although he handled the .45-70 like it was a .22LR.

His wife took a liking to a Saiga-410:

Librarian with a shotgun

But she, as the librarian, really preferred a more quiet firearm:

Shhh!

(That's a Ruger Mark II with integral suppressor courtesy of MBtGE - thanks for bringing her out!)

One last shot from the pistol shooting:

RIP Teddy

That's what happens when you hit a stuffed teddy bear with a .308... Nothing but fluff...

After we had had our fun shooting pistols and shotguns, we cleaned up the range, rearranged things a bit and then set it back up for rifles at 100 yards:

Long Shots

They're long shots for me... I still cannot believe I hit that gong with a pistol.

Here's a view of the firing line:

For Those About To Rock...

Yes, that is a Browning 1919 on the end manned by the World's Most Dangerous Librarian. That beauty came courtesy of commenter Bubblehead Les - thanks for bringing her along, Les!

Here's Breda after shooting the belt fed behemoth:

One Happy Breda

Another angle, this time with more gear:

Guns are fun

NJT took a turn with the Browning:

That's a cunning hat

I even got to shoot rifles!

Look downrange, Jay!

After the shooting was all done, and all guns were cased and put away, we went back to Casa del Heath and Amanda for some extremely delicious food, ice cold beer, and dessert. There should be a lot of pictures here of everyone having an incredibly good time, except that by the time we got back to the house I was thirsty, and there was all this beer, and... Well...

I did get one picture, for a friend:

Breda's Punkin Pie

I was given a very specific task by someone in Gunblogger Conspiracy to get a picture of Breda's pie, so I hereby oblige.

Once again, hearty thanks to Heath and Amanda for hosting us, and to Breda for organizing. Thanks to everyone who attended - it was great meeting all of you!

That is all.

Oh, was the 1919 full-auto?

A 1919 converted to .308 was my first-full-auto.

Looks like an awesome time! Bummed I missed it!

The 1919 was semi-auto - which is probably a good thing considering that we burned through about 500 rounds of .308 as it was...

Full auto would have been fun, but expensive as hell...

Hey Weer'd, the 1919 was made up by a retired Army Buddy of mine who is a semi-retired gunsmith. He has the 30-06 barrel and stuff with it, but since MilSurp 30-06 has dried up, he converted it to .308. But you should see the other toys he likes to make up ( all BATFE legal, of course)! Next time you're in our neck of the Woods, let me know, and we'll swing by Santa's Workshop.

You don't have to tell me twice, Les!

Jay, do you have a better picture of Breda on my .308? I am pretty sure you were behind, her taking pictures of her "shooting form", for a while...

;)

I think I might have a decent pic I could send you...

Apparently, we need to teach you the fine art of making thumbnails ;). Suffice to say, resizing the image in terms of pixels does not actually reduce the amount of data the picture contains, and 3MB "thumbnails" are kind of pushing it ;).

That said, it looks like a hell of a blast was had by all! Except that teddy bear...

That looks like so much fun!
