Friday Gun Pr0n # 189

Today's gun pic comes to us from a reader and commenter who has asked to remain anonymous. I won't name this person, but I will let them describe today's gun for us:
Jay,

Last Friday's gun pr0n was very nice. I'm jealous of your large collection of .45s, especially since my meager collection only contains one .45, an "off-brand" government clone worth about $1.98. Actually, I should say contained, since I added a new 45 to my collection on election day.

Like your latest addition, it is a current production S&W. However, it is not a JMB design, and compared to your SW1911 it is downright plain. Heck, its not even an auto. Behold my new to me S&W 325 Night Guard.

Not Your Average .45 ACP

I was looking to get my first-ever .357, most likely a lightweight L-frame .357 (386PD, 386SC, or 386NG). However, when I saw and handled the 325NG I fell in love. I buy guns to shoot, and getting a .45 means I would not have to stockpile more ammo.

The obligatory specs:

  • Caliber: .45 ACP
  • Capacity: 6 Rounds
  • Barrel Length: 2.75" / 7.0 cm
  • Front Sight: XS Sights® 24/7 Tritium Night
  • Rear Sight: Cylinder & Slide Fixed
  • Overall Length: 7.625" / 19.4 cm
  • Weight: 28 oz / 793.8 g
  • Action: Single/Double Action
  • Frame Size: Large - Exposed Hammer
  • Grip: Synthetic
  • Material: Scandium Alloy Frame
    Stainless Steel Cylinder
  • Finish: Matte Black
The discontinued 325PD had a titanium cylinder, the Night Guards have stainless steel. The added weight makes it a more enjoyable range gun (yes, I've already shot it :-). As a bonus this might make a good hiking gun with the right holster and ammo...

Boy, howdy, but that's a right sexy lookin' wheelgun...

That is all.

Oooh Pretty...Minus that S&W zit on the sideplate. Seriously, the boys in Springfield need to put their ear to the ground and notice that we don't WANT that friggin' zit!

I've got a 625, and a model 25. I've been looking for a 325 I liked for a while now.
