Victim of abuse slays ex, police say
Late Thursday, Gregory W. Thompson drove to his ex-wife's Glasgow home, got a short ladder and placed it on the overhang above the rear deck, according to police.
He climbed to her third-floor bedroom window, slipped inside and started beating her as she lay sleeping, they said. But after a year-and-a-half of getting protection-from-abuse orders because of previous violence, his ex-wife had a gun -- and it was nearby.
She then proceeded to terminate her ex's abusive ways forever.
[pause to let bloodthirsty cheers and catcalls to subside]
The gun control movement would have prefered she attempt to dial 911 while receiving this beating. They would rather she endure a violent assault, waiting against hope for the police to arrive, rather than have the most effective means of defense at her disposal. They would rather see her life terminated, beaten to death by a violent, abusive ex who was under a restraining order, than that of her abuser.
I say to hell with that.
Here's the money quote:
"In the majority of homicides, there was no PFA in place," [executive director of the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence Carol] Post said. "We do believe they offer a layer of protection. But the PFA is only as good as the respect that the abusive partner has for that order. If the abusive party is bent on having contact with the victim, it does no good."
(emphasis mine). A truly determined abuser is not going to be deterred by a piece of paper. They will, however, be deterred by 230 grains of jacketed hollowpoint goodness. Make sure you give them exactly what they want - anyone that climbs into your bedroom and starts viciously beating you is obviously trying to commit suicide. Make damn sure they succeed.
Gun control: Because a woman beaten to death by an abusive ex is morally superior to one standing over the abusive ex's bloody corpse.
Dead Goblin Count: 84
That is all.

Does anyone know what a PFA is? Did I miss a reference somewhere?
I found it -- Protection From Abuse -- I should have read the article.
But isn't that what any .38 could be called?
*happy dance*
I will point out, however, that a woman living in MA would have a harder time. She would have to escape from her assaulter long enough to get to her safe, punch in the code, and extract the weapon.
Think about how the look that must have been on goblin 84's face when that slug hit home. Duh!
Ha-ha!
That's a picture worth a million bucks.
If that story was from Massachusetts they would have found her dead with the key to her trigger lock still clutched in her fingers....
Saddly I've had a few friends who have found themselves in abusive relationships.
When asked for advice its universal.
#1. Get out!
#2. Get Protection Order
#3. Get gun!
Needless to say these steps have been more easily followed by my friends in Maine, than the ones in Mass...
That's the way it's supposed to work.
