Misleading Titles...

One dead in botched North Philadelphia robbery attempt
A bullet hole, shattered glass, strewn money, and a dead body were the visible remains of an apparent robbery gone awry Monday afternoon in North Philadelphia.

Police said an employee of the Super Pro shoe store, at 22d Street and Indiana Avenue in Swampoodle, fatally shot a man who entered shortly before 1 p.m. Police said the man told the store employee he wanted to buy a pair of sneakers, but then brandished the handle of a gun and demanded money from the register.
How's that go again? Oh yeah. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Don't flash a "gun handle" (it turned out to be a BB gun) and not have a plan should someone react to it. The title doesn't specify, leaving the reader to assume that this is yet another case where the goblin, not content to take his victim's money, also takes their life. Instead, there's a happy ending where the good guy goes home and the bad guy earns a toe tag. Except for one thing: that poor employee has to live the rest of his life knowing that he broke one of man's oldest taboos - he took another human's life.

The more cold-hearted (like your humble host) think better the goblin than the store employee.

Dead Goblin Count: 81

That is all.

Thanks to to FarmDad in Gunblogger Conspiracy chat for the addition.

No...he's going to go to church/synagogue/temple and thank his God that he had the moral fortitude to stand up for himself, defend himself, and live to be able to go home and see his family.

Then he'll sleep well knowing that he did the right thing, and that one more piece of vermin has now been sent to where *he* has to account for *his* sins, and *his* stupidity.

I had that taboo forcibly removed from my phycological make up during Boot Camp. Saw more dead bodies in Kuwait than the craziest Call of Duty level. Better them than us.
