Christmas Recap...

I got a $50 gift certificate to my favorite gun store and a $100 gift card to a box store that also sells ammo (okay, WalMart) for Christmas. I tend not to put gun-related stuff on my list for two reasons: first, out of all the folks that get me presents, only one has a permit; and second I'm pretty picky about what cleaning solvents/etc. I use, so I prefer to pick it out myself. In my case, gift certificates and store cards are the way to go for gunnie stuff.

I figure I'll use the gun store certificate either as a deposit on something new/exciting in the case or for some defensive ammo or cleaning supplies. The box store card will go towards replenishing the ammo locker - been running through .22LR recently so I should pick up a few more bricks and they've also started carrying Federal round nose .38 Special wadcutters, which are perfect for the indoor range at my gun club. With two feet of snow expected by the time it all stops tonight and temperatures in the 20s, it's time to start shooting indoors more...

(Side note: In the non-gunnie items of interest was a wireless USB headset, so perhaps my Vicious Circle appearances will feature fewer technical difficulties... Well, I can dream, can't I?)

So, what did Gunnie Claus leave under your Christmas tree?

That is all.

I must say gunnie Claus was good this year. Not sure If I was Naughty or Nice enough to deserve it. My daughter started the events with a Pink Compound bow.
I followed up with a Browning Silver Hunter 12Ga, a soft case, G.Mtn. electronic hearing protection (4 mic, 29nrr), and a $50 gift certificate to my favorite indoor range. I think santa thought I could take my new toy there but it will still go to good use. They sell all kinds of accessories in the things that don't go boom category or I should probalby use it for range time.

Gunnie Claus left me two of the four Jeff Cooper reprints ("Handguns Afield" and "Guns of the Old West").

You can never have too much Jeff Cooper in your personal library.

Even better, Gunnie Claus left a gift for one of my nephews.

The hubby and I didn't buy gifts for each other. Instead, we replaced the dishwasher that quit on Thanksgiving...guess we've become a little practical after 26 year of marriage. The boy gave me a bore snake for my 257 Roberts but that's the only gun item I received. Like you we are the only gunnies on this side. Our nephew and his wife are here from Indiana and we are taking them to the range later this week, they are both preparing to get their CCW's. The MIL is an anti gunner so we usually just go to a different room to talk guns with the nephew, no point in stirring the pot.

To mupedalpusher's statement about the MIL - My wife's grandmother made quite the Oh Lord face when I unwrapped the rifle case from the Kids. We were at my in-laws house and I am sure my MIL would have made a dumb comment when I opened the Shotty. (Unfortunately she was at the hospital with the FIL who came home that night).

A copy of the New Tom Clancy's ( along with some otheter guy) latest tome - "Dead or Alive".

Accordind to the dust jacket, Jack Rayn's son, joined by gunnies John Clark and Ding Chavez now have fewer rules to follow and lots of bad guys to hunt down.

watch out for the echo-y sound and attempt to hide a flush while in VC with wireless headset

How about a gift certificate to Kittery Trading Post and a copy of John Lott's The Bias Against Guns?

Well, I did get a tie with Teddy Bears on it, too. But let's not talk about that just now.

Gunnie Claus was good to me, too. Crimson Trace grips for my 1911, 20x-60x spotting scope, a rifle rest, and gift cards which can be turned into ammo.

I'm my own Santy Claus.
I stumbled into a gun store and saw this http://doubleplusundead.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/100_0717.jpg
when I had money in my pocket.

Now I get to find out how quickly Buffalo Arms can get me the 8mm Nambu I need to feed it.

Gunnie Claus visited our home too.
I got a 1858 Remington New Army revolver with all the extras so I can chase away the skeeters on the pistol range come spring.
Also got a spotting scope and a small spot steamer (yup, it's a gunnie gift!) and a couple bags of cleaning patches. The wife got a compound bow, and the kid got a new range bag.

I got the Cornered Cat's book on concealed carry from Gunny Claus and a strong hint from my folks that it's about time I get the permit.

"So, what did Gunnie Claus leave under your Christmas tree?"

A first-series Colt Woodsman sport model, 1940-made, with the optional, adjustable front sight. So, yes, I'm happy... I now have a Colt pistol to go with my 1938-made Winchester Model 61. Heh... match made in Heaven?

Oppps, apparently I missed a few gunnie gifts. Gotta be careful about they, don't want Gunnie Claus to skip my house next year! I also got a really cool wheelgun-shaped egg fryer/cookie cutter, and a HiVis sight for the shotgun that I got for my birthday. The Boy also got a HiVis for the shotgun he got for HIS birthday, a shell catcher for same, and a shotgun shell pouch for trap/skeet. The Mrs is a shotgunner at heart and keeps trying to convert us, heh.
