DGC First: Hat Trick!

Pretty much everyone* sent me this triple addition to the DGC:

3 robbery suspects shot, killed during jewelry store holdup

HOUSTON—Three suspects were gunned down Thursday afternoon during a holdup at an east Houston jewelry store, according to police.

The owner of the store was also shot, but he survived.

Three goblins. All three had guns. All three had their guns out and presumably at the ready. This dude pulls his own handgun, shoots one of the goblins (the one threatening his wife), then grabs a shotgun and blows the other two away. This isn't a news story, this is a Hollywood movie. That takes some serious brass ones right there, along with a rock solid determination to not become a victim.

And if we keep adding dead goblins at this rate, we'll hit a buck and a quarter by New Year's...

Dead Goblin Count: 109

That is all.

*Seriously. I had over a dozen people send me this story. Do you have any idea how happy that makes me? :) Keep 'em coming folks! I had originally wanted the DGC count to crest 100 by the end of the year. We're at 109 (110 with the 12 o'clock posting, not to tip my hand or anything) and it's still two weeks to the end of the year...

We're pretty proud of our DG's down here in Texas. Thinking about changing the state motto to:

If you ain't packin', you're slackin'!

Stop doing this on days I am on call, it isn't fair. My XO cognac needs using.

Also, I am dissapointed that no one has mentioned that, "A handgun is used to fight your way to a long gun."

As soon as I read this in the paper this morning (yes, 24 hours behind the real news cycle), I thought to myself that you would find a way to work "Hat Trick" into the story.

Nice to see that Texas doesn't treat law abiding businessmen who defend their wives and their lives as criminals.

Ya got 14 more days to make it to 120. Do ya think they're gonna make it?

From the gunshine state of Florida.

The best and worst part of the news story last night was that the neighborhood was happy that someone stood up to the criminal element in their neighborhood. The worst part is that none ofthem seemed willing to do the same. They all seemed to want someone else to do it for them. Anyway you put it the citizens of Houston are proud of this man and are praying for a speedy and complete recovery.

The TV showed one comical part where this one fairly large man who was not involved woulds't stop trying to hug one of the cops who was visibly perturbed by this behavior.

You Know, I wonder if Sheila Jackson Lee will show up at these thugs funeral? Or if she will make a statement about how proud she is of this Houston gun owner?

My favorite part of the story is that the guy himself was shot multiple times and apparently didn't notice it to begin with, in spite of being injured seriously enough that he was hospitalized in "critical but stable" condition. The man had something like three very serious gunshot wounds and still went outside to look for more goblins. That's hella tough even by Texas standards.
