Help Needed...

Not for me. For a friend. Commenter and provider of blogfodder "skidmark" found himself at the center of an old-fashioned legal railroading.

Go here and read the story.

There's a defense fund set up to help him out - please drop a little in if you can spare it.

Thank you.

That is all.

Just dropped a bit in his fund and will throw a post up on the blog later today.

That situation is one huge clusterfuck.

My take-away from this - carry a voice recorder.

Guess which way I WON'T be going when I go to Williamsburg this weekend? Holy crap. Will throw some in the fund on pay day.

Do you know if he goes by "vaskidmark" on other forums, and is a retired Marine?

Being from VA and the right approx age just has me wondering.

Will throw him a bone either way, what a mess.

@ Heath -

Yeah, that's me.

Not a "retired" Marine. They refused to let me reenlist after extending me involuntarily. I'm the only person required by the Corps to refer to myself as a former Marine. Their loss was my gain. ;>)

stay safe.

Forgive me for playing Devil's advocate but...... you open carry in a security area (which will make people a little wary) and refuse a search. That is your right, just turn around and walk away. You knew you would be searched so why did you even go to the ferry, unless you had a point to make. Then you go off to make your complaints. When a deputy asks for ID you refuse because you are not driving a vehicle at the time. The deputy does not know if you are a reincarnation of Seung-Hei Cho so he gets you out of the way so you can be apprehended safely. I don't understand what your complaint is, if you had shown the tiniest modicum of cooperation you would be at home polishing your M9 now. If people cared about their responsibilities as much as their rights society would be just a little bit better. Still I noticed that several of your forum buddies are hoping for you to win a big settlement and perhaps that was your motive in acting the way you did.

What about people's responsibility to exercise their rights? Especially with the rights involved in this case, if we fail to exercise them regularly, we WILL lose them, because they are constantly under the slow and insidious attack of "cooperate for security."
