QOTD

Today's Quote of the Day comes from SCI-FI, in a chat over various and sundry handgun calibers. SCI-FI is asking all kinds of (very good) questions about different arms and calibers, and was stumped to hear about the .45 GAP. After attempting to explain the rationale behind the round (IIRC, it was supposed to allow a .45 caliber round in a 9mm/.40 S&W frame, but I really think it was just to get "Glock" in the name of a wildcat round like Sig did with .357 Sig...).

He then comes out with today's QOTD:

So, then, the .45 GAP is like the evil mini-Me of the .45 caliber world?

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

That is all.

What gets me is the lousy capacity of thos .45 GAP firearms.

And of course comes the false reporting of cartridge performance. such as .45 ACP performance from a shorter cartridge with the GAP (not really), or .357 Magnum performance from a semi-auto pistol cartridge. (not even close!)

hype Gimmick and empty wallets!

Eh, I'd call it more goofy than evil.

Without trying to find proof: I thought the .45GAP was created for those European markets where military calibers are illegal (e.g. .45acp.)
