Heading to the range with friend, commenter, and Gunblogger Conspiracy conspirator SCI-FI. He's itchin' to shoot my SW1911, as he's about to get his MA LTC and his first firearm - and, G-d bless him, he wants to start off right with a by JMB (PBUH) 1911 in the 100th anniversary year of the 1911. I also need to do some shooting for my next article, which will be a review of a new (to me) firearm.
Is Shooting. Is good.
That is all.

Hey Jay, shooting 1911's in 2011 is good but you should shoot a 2011 in 2011 to be really cool.

MA LTC! I love it. Congrats to them on completing the Massachusetts gun ownership obstacle course.
Good for SciFi! A MA LTC is a great place to start !!
I didn't have time to go to the range today but I still went shooting.

Have fun guys :)

OK, OK... not that bad. But still, going shooting with a seasoned shooter is both helpful and humbling.
And giving me a seemingly endless supply of boolitts and educatin' is appreciated.
* Mrs SCI-FI is a better shot than I am, so please don't get ideas about breaking into my house in hopes that I can't tag you before you get the valuables. My wife *will*. And so will I... eventually.
@SCI-FI I've been told by experienced instructors (and been humbled myself) that women tend to pick up shooting accurately faster than men. The reasoning is that all men are born with the idea in their head that (whether they've ever done it or not) they are experts at shooting, grilling and screwing, while the fairer sex have no preconceived notions :)
Congrats, and welcome to the lovely world of being a gun owner in this hell hole of a state...
Attaboy Sci-Fi. My First Gun was also a 1911 (The stainless version of that S&W1911 you shot) Its a nice starting gun as it fits well as range and target, as well home defense and with a proper holster, Conceal carry.
Oh and great picture, Wally!
Maybe some day I'll have a house that I can do that at. Then again, I suspect the wife would frown on it.
Heh!
