Addin' On A Friday...

The Big Guy sends in this story that is, as most DGC stories are, short on details:

1 dead in apparent botched home invasion
A 28-year-old Loudoun man was shot and killed Thursday night and another man was critically wounded during what police said could be a botched home invasion robbery in Sterling, Loudoun Sheriff's officials said.

Investigators were told by people inside a home that both shooting victims were part of a group of intruders who burst into the residence in the 1200 block of East Kennedy Road at about 8:30 p.m., officials said.

8:30 PM. Multiple invaders. If that's not a recipe for disaster I don't know what is. Now, it may very well turn out that this was one group of unlicensed pharmacists trying to effect a hostile takeover of another group of unlicensed pharmacists; there's simply not enough evidence to point either way from the "news" report.

It stands for now.

Dead Goblin Count: 126

That is all.

Jay,

Home Invasions are popular with some of the less *respectable* criminals here in Virginia. According to the follow up, these thugs knew what they wanted and where it was. They had either been there before or knew someone who had. Whether the defending *homeowner* was also a criminal in unknown, but doubtful. The drug-related criminal activity, especially in the nicer parts of Northern Virginia, are usually relegated to the rental units and trailer parks. The home *owners* have assets to protect.

Loudoun county is the upper-end of the income range for NoVA... Especially homes in Sterling where the median for a SFR is around $400k+ and they go all the way up over $1mil

The real take-away is this: You never know when you are going to be targeted by the criminals. Carry your gun, even at home. It is a lighter burden than regret. (H/T Breda) I do...

Demographics: http://tinyurl.com/4kd4z6n

Crime rate is 1/4 the national average. This particular street is actually older and may be rentals, so the crime-on-crime supposition might hold water upon further analysis.

Cheers!

It pains me that they refer to the targets as "victims".

Maybe they didn't get what they came for, but they got what they asked for.

Crap! That's less than 2 miles from my house. Am willing to bet a case of ammo that at least one side of the incident (preferably the ambient temp. side) was undocumented.

@stretch, there were 7 people in the house when it was "attacked".
Bets on both sides being illegals?

No bets Bob. Between this incident and the multiple shooting in Manassas by an illegal who should have been deported 10 (TEN!) years ago it is clear the government has utterly fail to serve us. I am afraid the citizens will take matters into their own hands.

Multiple invaders. A/K/A target-rich environment.
