A Good Read...

North talks about the Passionate Carnivore.

Money quote:
You can be a gentleman that has the caveman's masculine skills, but not bluntly delivered. Strength, not aggression. Character, not abruptness. Polite presence, not boorish intrusion. Persevere, don't retreat.

Spoken like a true caveman, good sir. Oog heartily agrees.

That is all.

Thank you Jay. You and I have to be what we are, not what others want us to be. And more than anything I've never given up being masculine and being a gentleman. The two CAN go hand in hand. I'm not talking Archie Bunker in a tux, or a body builder at a charity banquet. I'm saying strength of character shouldn't be suppressed by people that want to make men and women 'equals' by finding the least common denominator of the two.

I'm never quite sure if I've crossed the line from polite presence to boorish intrusion... ;)

Jay,

The piece reminds me a bit of KdT's "pussification of the American male".

Indeed. I've maintained for years that it's perfectly possible to be a Real Man and a gentleman, even in today's world (where making normal boys less aggressive with Ridalin is considered normal, where the sure-fire sitcom formula is a clever woman making fun of a bumbling man).

It's nice to hear from guys who feel similarly.

I've always known that I wasn't an old piece of furniture. I thank God for a bride that after 30 years still thinks I smell a little sexy after a hard days work!

That's a great post!

Personally? I love guys who don't smell like daisies and sunshine...
