So, you just won a cool $300 million in the Multi-State SuperMegaBux. You build a swank new mansion for the family, with a big-ass garage. Your challenge is to pick five brand new current-production automobiles to fill that new garage of yours.
Well, knowing my penchant for Top Ten lists, I'm going to modify it. I'm a car nut probably just about as much as I'm a gun nut, so I'll run two lists: the first will be the "instant gratification" list, which will fulfill Marko's request for the five new cars. The second list will be my "down-the-road" list, the cars that might take time to find, fix, etc.
Current list:
1. Ferrari 599 GTO. Red. Sleek. Fast. This car is extra-expensive because you have to buy a judge to cover the speeding tickets. WANT WANT WANT.
2. Cadillac XLR-V. Yeah, I know, Government Motors, blah blah blah. It's a Corvette with Cadillac cladding. It's the go-fast car for the Goodfellas set. I yearn to set my inner Guido free...
3. Mercedes SLS AMG. Um. It's a gullwing Mercedes. 563 HP. 'Nuff said? The '63 300 would have made the classic list if this modern incarnation didn't exist.
4. Porsche 911 Speedster. Yeah, I'd line up my millions to get one of the 356 made... The 911 is one of my favorite models ever, a car I've wanted to own since I was about 8 years old.
5. Shelby GT500. There's something about a Mustang pushing out 540 horsepower that just makes this red-blooded American male's pulse go THUMP THUMP THUMP...
Classic list:
1. 1959 Cadillac El Dorado Biarritz convertible. This is, hands down, my all-time favorite automobile. The fins. The length. Designed by Harley Earl. I would most likely get two of these: one to restore to pristine factory condition, the other to restore but with a modern powerplant and conveniences for a daily driver.
2. 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge. The GM quartet - the Buick GNX, Chevy Chevelle, Olds Cutlass 442, and the GTO - were some of the fastest, baddest cars on the road in the late 1960s/early '70s, and the GTO Judge was the baddest of the bad.
3. Ferrari Barchetta. Sure, "Red Barchetta" by Rush factors into this, but no car collection is truly complete without a rare Ferrari, right? Just ask Cameron Frye...
4. 1987 Buick Grand National. Arguably the greatest American car of the 1980s. 3.8L turbocharged and intercooled V6 engine that could eat any of the V8s out of Detroit. Plus a handling package that made the lumbering Buick almost nimble.
5. Shelby AC Cobra. The ne plus ultra of American muscle, the AC Cobra was a (barely) street legal monstrosity capable of near-200 MPH top speeds. It was built as a Corvette beater, and it succeeded.
So what are your five (or ten) cars on the lottery list?
That is all.

1942ish Chevy 1 1/2-ton mil-spec 4x4 truck, cargo body
Late 1940s Jeep CJ - not a milsurp
Late 1960s Chevy small-block coupe
Late 20s-early 30s Model A pickup, green & with no battery (family story)
Late '40s FarmAl Cub tractor
And, if I can find one in running condition, an original Lombard steam-powered tracked Log Hauler.
That's about it. Too many toys and a guy could get spoiled.
Ooh, almost forgot: being this is the big multi-million jackpot, I guess I'd have to find a Mack B-model (B85, maybe?) Thermodyne with a ladder-truck chassis, at least 75' aerial. That's what I learned to drive on for my CDL way back when. Like trying to drive the Queen Mary, but boy, what an experience.
1. Ford F-150 diesel engine 4x4
2. VW Jetta diesel wagon
3. Shelby GT500 (Wife's car)
I guess it is kinda sad that I can't think of 5 current production automobiles that I would want. But, my place would also be out in the middle of nowhere in the Texas hill country.

3. Mercedes CKL Black ( ok - 2 Track day cars)

3. Porsche 917 long tail
4. Hemi Cuda Coupe
5. Early 70’s Ferrari F1 car
And I could go on for at least another 20 cars - Hey... it's a Megabucks list and I have a big garage to fill.
For the record, the Buick A-body in the Chevelle / GTO / Cutlass 442 family was the GSX - the GNX was a variant of the Regal Grand National.

1. My Dad's 1942 GMC pickup.
2. My 1952 Olds Rocket 88. It needs a lot of work, but still my favorite car ever.

1. Audi S4
2. Toyota Tundra
3. Austin Healey 3000 MkIII
4. Land Rover Series IIA pickup
5. Porsche 356
4 Jag XKRs and an Infiniti FX35.
With 4 Jags I should usually have ONE running at any time. The Infinity has enough room for my wife and I with the two cats in their carriers and a couple of weeks worth of food and water, and guns and ammunition.
1) Lamborghini Contach - I've been wanting this since I was a kid.
2) Ferrari Testarosa - 80s classic.
3) BMW Alpina B5 Biturbo Touring - a touring class station wagon that does 0 to 100 km/h(62.5mph) in 4.8 seconds.
4) Rolls Royce Phantom - because sometimes you just have to show up in class.
5) Nissan 200SX S15 - because it wouldn't be a complete collection without a serious drifting car, and with fuck you money, I could afford private drifting lessons and track rental.
1) Jag XKE Hardtop
2) Acura NSX
3) Deuce and a half
4) Daytona Charger/Superbird
5) 4wd crew cab duallie
That should suffice.
Wow hard to pick just 5. I like these
1970 Mercury Cougar
1955 T Bird
1963 Corvette
1971 Javelin AMX
and a new car -
2010 Dodge Challenger which looks as bad as the old ones did
I tend to favor the old classics
1960 Corvette
1954 F88 Oldsmobile
1956 Thunderbird
1957 Chevrolet pickup
I'm with you on a lot of those, including the more exotic ones.
I'd get a Jag convertible with a V-12, an older one.
Probably 4 or 5 '72 and earlier Eldorado convertibles.
A bunch of 69-72 American convertibles, Cougar, Camaro, GTO.
A '20s or '30s Stutz Bearcat (can you tell I like cars without a roof?), those are my favorite of all time cars.
But you forgot the first one I'd get.
A 6X6 with a quad .50 mount.
I'd need something to protect my garage.
M11128 MGS for a SHTF vehicle
Austin Martin Vanquish
Cadillac CTS
(daily driver)
Alfa Romeo Spyder
Buick Grand National
(Obligatory American muscle car)
That's the list
THOTpolice
XLR-V is no longer in production.
Hmm, hard to pin it down to just ten but lets see...
1. Lambo Countach LP400: One of the most exotic looking cars ever, even if it can be beaten by a Nissan Altima these days.
2. Lambo Miura: The direct ancestor of EVERY mid-engine car made today, and one of the sexiest cars ever made. I'll take mine in black, thanks.
3. '63 Lincoln Continental convertible: For highway cruising, natch.
4. '70 AMC AMX: You gotta have a muscle car, and I love the left hand choice.
5. '65 Merc Monterrey: I LOVE the slabsides look.
6. Porsche 928 GTS, the best GT car in the world over three decades, and one of the few Porsches I actually like the looks of.
7. Volvo 240 Wagon: With an engine swap in the flavors of "V8" and "turbocharged" this would be an incredible daily driver. Who in their right mind would ever expect to get smoked by a *Volvo*
8. Fiat 124 Spyder: For top down fun in the twisties.
9. IH Scout II: To match my IH Garand, of course.
10. Volvo P1800ES: Mmmmm, shooting brake.
I could go on like this all day, but that's enough.
New Production:
1 - Subaru WRX STI
2 - Honda Ridgeline
3 - Ford Expedition - for hauling a lot of stuff.
4 - Something large and comfy and fast - think Crown Vic (if they still made them) - for long-hauling it.
5 - Cooper Mini. They look like fun...
Classic list:
1969 Camaro RS - white with orange stripes. 327 w/a 4 speed, please.
1970 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron 4 door. 'Cause I want one just like Dad had... except with a working suspension.
1973 Mazda RX2 - 'cause it FLIES and is a total sleeper of a car.
'57 Bel Air.
Deuce coupe - think John Milner's car in American Graffiti.
Oh, and OldNFO? The 327 didn't come out until 1962. Sorry about that.

66 Jag XKE 4.2, black roadster with red leather

2) 68 Plymouth GTX in rare electric blue. Same protouring treatment. Big boy EFI 500 ci+ hemi, 6 speed auto w/ paddles, coil-overs etc.
3) Aston Martin DB5 in pale pewter. Hidden Bond accesories optional.
4) Ferrari 250 swb in Rosso Corsa
