Making A Clean Sweep of Crime...

Yankeefried sends along this gem of MA criminal "justice":

Police say Lawrence man may be linked to several burglaries
An attempted burglary at an 86-year-old Lawrence woman’s home that led to a suspect being arrested may be linked to four other recent burglaries in the area, officials said.

The suspect, Jorge Fuentes, 32 of Lawrence, is to be arraigned today in Lawrence District Court on charges of burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon. He also faces charges from a previous larceny case. Lawrence Police Chief John Romero said.

Yep. There's the Massachusetts way. Incarcerating a criminal might damage their self-esteem, you know. Read the story. This 86 year old woman grabbed a broom and hid in another room, and fortunately did not actually face the criminal breaking in. The police, to their credit, got to the residence in time to catch the burglar in the act and spared the woman from having to use her broom.

Now, granted, if this had been a little old Italian nonna, it's more likely the other way around - the police spared the goblin from a savage broom beating...

That is all.

God forbid one should be forced to resort to using a broom for self defense.
