Sphincter? Puckered...

PISSED sent the following frightening blast of alarming news:

North Korea Nears Completion of Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb

North Korea appears to be protesting the joint U.S. and South Korean military maneuvers by jamming Global Positioning Devices in the south, which is a nuisance for cell phone and computers users -- but is a hint of the looming menace for the military.

Since March 4, Pyongyang has been trying to disrupt GPS receivers critical to South Korean military communications apparently in protest of the ongoing joint military training exercises between South Korean and U.S. forces. Strong jamming signals were sent intermittently every five to 10 minutes.
Now, I'll admit to a little more apprehension than normal, having just completed the excellent "One Second After" about a theoretical EMP attack on modern day America. It's a fictional story of life in the US after an EMP attack knocks out the US power grid, and how one small town in western North Carolina copes with the sudden loss of technology. It's enough to make me think long and hard about my current state of preparedness, that's for sure.

As for the Korean threat, there's one very simple solution: Stop all aid. They do not get one single penny from us or any of our allies until they cease and desist this project. Simultaneously, we need to work a lot harder on strengthening our infrastructure, hardening key facilities to mitigate a potential attack. If an EMP attack on Los Angeles resulted in a longer-than-usual commute and a week of overtime for electricians rather than a complete and irreversible hit to the US and the US economy, our enemies would think twice before launching an attack that could garner them a nuclear response.

In any case, I need to get to work on that fallout shelter...

That is all.

think about a Carrington even. If the Norks make you nervous, then a Carrington event should make you REALLY nervous.

Comments on the subjects (and feel free to delete this if you think i am too forward by putting a link to my blog here)
