With no one looking, Fidelity chief moves family firm, riches
A clandestine company that manages billions for Fidelity Investments chief Ned Johnson and his family has quietly pulled up stakes from Boston’s Financial District, leaving the Bay State behind for New Hampshire and its beneficial trust and tax laws, the Herald has learned.I love how they try to make it seem like this was done over the cover of darkness, the obvious implication being that there was something untoward about the move. In the wake of Fidelity's decision to move operations out of MA, as well as the loss of Evergreen Solar, and thousands of Mass residents fleeing the state, it's not surprising that the desperation level is rising. They're trying to make it seem like these groups are going over the wall at Checkpoint Charlie here, when the reality is far simpler:Crosby Advisors’ relocation of more than 100 workers to new offices in Salem, N.H., last fall — marking a major migration of Boston wealth over the border — went virtually unnoticed except among informed company insiders.
They want the hell out of Massachusetts.
Read through the comments, too, if you want a chuckle. NH is "hinterlands" where everyone is a hick driving a pickup truck. Ah, there's that world-famous tolerance and diversity the left is always preaching - you know, unless you happen to disagree with our world view. The simple fact is that the business climate is more agreeable in New Hampshire, so it's attracting more businesses. With telecommuting, video conferencing, and other technological advances, having an office in the middle of the financial district in Boston has become less important in recent years - and companies are starting to notice.
It's about time MA reaps what it sows - perhaps they'll start making the correlation between increasing taxes and losing business? Nahhh...
That is all.

Huh. Why would anyone want THAT?
;-)
Of course, those same people have no problem going to Salem, NH to shop at Walmart tax free, or buy cheap booze at the NH state liquor store.
WV=parti - you can't make this stuff up!
You know what to do.
Do it.
Make a goal for the year.
I personally pledge $100.00 to the JayG Moving Fund™, to be sent to your new address in New Hampshire as soon as you move in. Are they any others willing to join me?
And it's just going to continue, and what is going to happen to your tax rates???
"NH is "hinterlands" where everyone is a hick driving a pickup truck."
Said like that's a bad thing? Here in the hinterlands, this afternoon I ordered up 10 more new 30-round P-Mags and ten more new 15-round mags for one of my 9mms...and they will get delivered right to my door here in the hinterlands. Without me commiting a felony in the process.
Of course, that alone - to the folks who think we are indeed hicks - is yet more evidence that we have yet to evolve to the high standards of the state to our south.
We'd love to have you join us. Anytime, anytown, would be richer for your presence.
Why not, he's already got the pickup truck.
BTW, there are some nice homes for sale in Brentwood...where I think Bruce moved...and one is fairly new and near land that I own (don't live in that town but do own ancestral land there). Convenient commuting distance to most of MA; have had family there for 360+ years, and grandpa commuted to Worcester in the 30s through the 50s no problem.
That is, if you don't mind the occassional gunfire, from either me & the family, or the SIG range over the hill.
Connecticut isn't much better and it is likely to get worse before it gets better.
Yes, yes it is the hinterlands. And everyone in Massachusetts has it much better, with the services and low property taxes. Attention Mass residents, except those with free minds, you should definitely stay in Mass.
I gotta wonder at the reporters agenda as well, does he want them to get ripped off/attacked? Holy OPSEC Batman, he speaks of all the billons they handle then goes on to give their address, floor and a photo of the building. What's next, the door codes? Home addresses? Maybe some pics of their kids?
Well now they're in NH, security can break out the HIGH cap mags;)
Yup, I'm making my escape plans as we speak... uckfy this hell-hole. Of course I have to skidadle before 2013, the year the 3.8% real estate transaction tax kicks in. You know part of the socialized medicine bill you had to drink before knowing what poison was in it.
