Running Up The Count...

Reader Gary sends in the latest addition to the count:

Ore. official says intruder shot during break-in

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) -- Coos County, Ore., authorities say an apparent early morning residential break-in ended with the intruder's death.

KCBY reports that sheriff's deputies received a call Thursday morning from a woman resident at a home in the south part of the county who said a man had forced his way in.

Interesting fact: a .22LR rifle was used in the shooting, showing that, yes, even the diminutive .22LR is deadly. The homeowner is not expected to face charges.

Dead Goblin Count: 147

That is all.

Another one shot drop with a 22.
It's not the size of the hole, it's the placement.

Of course, given equal shot placement, bigger is better.

A 22 is quite a different round when fired from a rifle as compared to a handgun, with a higher velocity. It is used a lot as a gun for poaching deer, since it is fairly quiet and can be very accurate.
