We'll Be Alright.

As long as there continue to be men like Army Staff Sargent Eddie Peoples.

Soldier on leave in Florida subdues bank robber
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — When a soldier sheds his camouflage uniform and takes a vacation, the last thing he wants to set his sights on is the barrel of a gun.

This Tuesday, less than 24 hours after touching U.S. soil again, Staff Sgt. Eddie Peoples stepped into a bank in Sarasota, Fla. In tow were two of his four sons, ages 4 and 6.

He kept his kids safe. He followed the guy outside, where he boxed him in and prevented him from escaping. He then disarmed the guy and held him in a submission hold until the cops got there. The only way this guy could have been more heroic would have been if he'd caught the bullet from the guy's gun in his teeth...

Video with interview here (thanks to reader Scott for the tip).

Two words best describe Staff Sargent Peoples: BAD and ASS.

That is all.

Awesome job SSgt!

If you are going to point a gun at a man trained in real martial arts, don't get close.

Also, it's generally a bad idea to use a BB gun for a violent crime. Especially if you're then going to point it at a man trained in real martial arts, and you're too close.

I had that same thought watching the video: That's a BB gun.

In this case, that goblin got *exactly* what he deserved: a hearty beat-down, soiled pants, and a ride in a squad car. Sargent Peoples goes home a hero and he doesn't have to deal with the messy paperwork of having actually dispatched of a goblin...

That's ONE word, though occasionally spelled with a hyphen.

Bravo Zulu, Sergeant Peoples.

Well done staff sergeant!

Bram, depending on the situation, I might go about it slightly differently than in that video(especially if the area on the gun side of the goblin is clear, in which case instead of grabbing the slide I'd go straight for a kote gaeshi, the muzzle would in that case go for an arc over my head and down to the gunside(at which point the goblin is lying on his back), and then point AT the goblin, before I turn him over(by leveraging his arm on my knee), disarm him and put him in a submission/control hold).

An Iraq war vet who catches bank robbers in his spare time.

Too awesome for words.

Very true. You get none of the advantages of actually being armed, but you'll still serve the sentence for armed robbery.

Assuming somebody doesn't just mark you as an armed assailant and plug you with a real gun first.
