Thought #1: 9:45 AM robbery? Man, the crooks get to work *early* in Texas!Kenneth Kobobel Sr., a 72-year-old Marine veteran, had yet to put on his eyeglasses when he heard a knock at the door of his office in a northwest Houston strip mall around 9:45 a.m. on Friday.
The great-grandfather was chatting with his brother inside the office, making plans for the day, and figured the towering man waiting outside was one of his workers coming to collect his Friday paycheck.
Thought #2: Great-grandfather at 72? Man, the dads get to work *early* in Texas!
Thought #3: "When the man with a .45 meets a man with a Buick, the man with a .45 is a dead man".
Don't ever point a gun at a Marine, you'll just make him mad...

Even in Texas, the second the Perp left, and the old man was out of danger, his getting into his car to track him down, run him off the road and causing Fatal Injuries could send him to Prison for Manslaughter. He better hope some D.A. down there doesn't want to "Send a Message" to the Citizens that the "Only Ones" are allowed to fight crime.
According to his statement the robber fired at him before he actually ran him down, assuming the police can verify that, and he doesn't state anything further that might imply he started out with the intention to do more than track him he'll likely be fine.

Kobobel, who owns the small strip mall on Little York that houses his business office, a church and driving school, said he's "emotionally tore up" about the man's death.

Being a great-grandfather at 72 isn't so surprising; that's 18 years per generation.
