Attempted Barber Shop Robbery Turns Deadly in Detroit
DETROIT (WJBK) - Two guys walked in to a very busy Gents Barbershop at about 5:30 p.m. Friday on Whittier at Stratman on Detroit's east side. One with a gun said, "You know what time it is."The story is rather poorly written ("That's when the customer in the chair opened fire and emptied his automatic clip containing multiple rounds.") but generally not PSH-laden. Seems like a choirboy picked the wrong barbershop to hold up and wound up facing down a citizen with a carry permit - and lost. What the two bad guys didn't know was two customers were legally carrying handguns.
Please note that the recently deceased choirboy was out of parole and most likely was prohibited from owning guns, let alone carrying them. Gun control laws didn't stop him from acquiring a firearm. General laws didn't stop him from attempting armed robbery. Common decency didn't stop him from firing a round to scare the patrons.
The one thing that did stop him was a round or rounds to center mass.

That is all.

Yup. He was out on parole for armed robbery. That's definitely a felony in most (if not all) states.
"Common decency didn't stop him from firing a round to scare the patrons."
And with three children downrange and in the potential ricochet path, if the description is accurate. He certainly earned those rounds to center mass.
Hey, that must have been the barber shop from Gran Torino!
I am thinking Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter, if memory serves.
libertyman and other Clint fans: Yes, it was High Plains Drifter. For a worthwhile 5:15 of the movie that includes the "shave" scene, search on YouTube for "high plains drifter shave".
@Bob, I get the Gran Torino reference too.
Too bad about the felon, no doubt he was just about to turn his life around.
"One with a gun said, "You know what time it is." "
Yep. Time for you to die.
Yep, they did, in fact, know what time it was.
