Do It Again, Only Harder!

With economy, poll numbers low, Obama asks voters to give him leverage
VINEYARD HAVEN - As President Obama wound up his three-day bus tour of America’s heartland yesterday and prepared to begin his vacation today in Martha’s Vineyard, he appears increasingly vulnerable in his bid for a second term next year.

The numbers are foreboding: He is more unpopular in the polls than ever, and he is facing a rough-and-tumble economy dragged down by 9.1 percent joblessness.
And, naturally, Øbama's response has been two-fold: 1. Blame Republicans (although he does seem to have stopped blaming Bush, turning his attention to the Republicans in Congress as the scapegoat for why things aren't going well - and of course no one in the media challenges him to state why things didn't happen in the two years his party had a lock on the House, Senate, and Presidency, but I digress...); and 2. Clamor for more power.

Yes. He really is saying "Look, I know I've screwed this thing up six ways to Sunday, but just give me more power and *boy* watch what I do! Lost in these grandiose explanations of why the American people need to contact these eeeevil Republicans and tell them to stop holding up the Øbamaian utopia is the fact that the people did speak - rather soundly - less than two years ago. They saw the blueprint Øbama laid out for the country and voted accordingly - for the other side.

Nice try Barry; maybe another million dollar Canadian bus might help smooth things out on your way to another vacation on the Vineyard...

That is all.

Reminds me of the old Rocky and Bullwinkle bit.

Bullwinkle: "Hey, Rocky! Watch me pull an economic recovery out of my hat!"

Rocky: "But that trick never works!"

Bullwinkle: "This time for sure!"

Unemployment Rate: "GRAAAAHR!"

Bullwinkle: "No doubt about it - time to get a new Republican party!"

(I know it's not funny.)

The dude wants leverage? I want him to have leverage, I want him to reach around behind himself and pull that shiny little lever and flush his sorry but down the toilet. Leverage for the man.
