Would-Be Robber Fatally Shot By Intended Victim, Police Say
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man who died Monday night was attempting to rob someone when he was fatally shot by the intended victim, police said Tuesday.Yeah, this is definitely better than the victim being robbed/beaten/shot/killed. Look, here's a friendly tip from your buddy Jay: Robbing people at gunpoint in an area where you might have armed victims can get your stupid ass shot. Call it an occupational hazard - one that you can't file an OSHA claim for. Don't want to get shot? Don't commit violent crimes against others.
According to Columbus police, the shooting occurred in the 700 block of Sullivant Avenue at 8:48 p.m. Monday.
Dead Goblin Count: 185
That is all.

Some things (and some parts of Columbus) never change. I'm a little bit surprised the intended victim was legally carrying. (Getting the grand jury involved is standard procedure in a case like this. It doesn't mean the DA thinks he did anything wrong, they just like to have an independent review.)
Heh. All of my kids were born at that hospital.
There seems to be a commenter there who is saying the alleged robber and intended victim (yes, I'm being all PC for now) were friends and had spent a significant amount of time together before the alleged (yes, more being PC) crime occurred. That commenter is also saying that a third shot to the neck was delivered after the alleged (OK, how much longer do I have to remain PC?) robber was on the ground.
Then there are the commenters who want to know if the gun was registered, if the guy had a permit to carry, and even if the gun was registered and he had a permit why he was carrying in the first place.
But will the fishwrapper/TV station publish a follow-up if the Grand Jury finds it was justified/excusable?
It's all very mestly (wv term)
stay safe.
@skidmark: As I recall the TV and radio news in Columbus was pretty good about reporting when the grand jury found nothing worth an indictment. I can't say about the paper - I never read it.
Yea, this might be one to watch. I saw the comments Skidmark mentions. Also other news outlets are reporting the shooter fled the scene; he was interviewed by the police only after they tracked him down from other witnesses.
