There's A Reason They're The Stupid Party...

It's stuff like that makes me realize that the Stupids will NEVER get it...

Give Obama a break

Washington (CNN) -- How do you score partisan points against a president who looks to have won a military victory in Libya at very low cost? Simple: Attack him for being away from Washington at a summer house when the victory was won.

That line of attack was tested by some Republican talkers and bloggers this weekend. I wonder if we'll hear more of it in the coming days.

Well, see, for starters Øbama's the one who claimed we weren't involved in any sort of military action in Libya to begin with - that was his whole rationale behind not following the proscribed path for committing US troops, remember? Øbama's the one that's trying to have things both ways - he wants to be celebrated as having "won" in Libya while at the same time also claiming that he's not committing US troops, and therefore doesn't need Congressional approval.

The rest of the article isn't any better. Frum centers on the concept of presidential vacations and how we need to lay off Øbama because the president is never really on vacation. While that's true, it's also something that the folks on the right were constantly saying the entire time Bush was in office whenever the Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) would harp on Bush's vacation schedule.

And yet those same tongues never wag as Øbama goes on yet another vacation or plays another round of golf. It's not that we're complaining about the big Ø's vacation time; it's the discrepancy in coverage between the two presidents and their vacations that's the issue. While the media was all over Bush for going to his ranch in Crawford, no one seems to care about Øbama jetting off to tony Martha's Vineyard for a couple weeks. In fact, Øbama's press secretary once ridiculed Bush about vacation time and now claims that there is no such thing as a "presidential vacation"...

And yet Frum's "advice" to the GOP is to, yes, be Stupid and stop hammering on the hypocrisy - no, that's exactly what we need to do...

That is all.

Bush took vacations at his ranch and Camp David.

Obama rails against the Rich and then goes to hang out with same at Martha's Vineyard while his wife goes 4 hours ahead of him, making the cost traveling twice as much.
Or his wife goes to Spain to mourn her friend's, husband's death at phenomenal cost.

Remember Obama said it would be "Days not weeks or months" before Qaddafi was ousted. Only that was back in February or March.

Then President Feckless tried to turf this to the NATO allies, only they didn't have enough ordinance for a long term campaign.

As to "No US boots on the ground." don't believe it for a second. There are US special operations types whose job it is to assist with this sort of thing. The rebels didn't go from unorganized, poorly armed rabble to marching into Tripoli without some outside organizational help. That might have come from any number of nations including Iran, but a good bet would be the US or maybe even Britain. Or a combination.

David Frum is less of a Republican than Bloomberg is. He's a token "conservative" on CNN, nothing more. Libya is just one issue in Obama's Presidency, and not the largest. The economy is at it's worst since Jimmy Carter, unemployment is higher than when GW was President, and we're involved in five (maybe now four) wars in the Middle East and Asia.

And the President goes on a "working vacation" to Martha's Vineyard. After which he'll tell us about his sooper seekrit plan to bring jobs back to the US.

Right there I gave better advice to the Republicans that Frum has in his entire life.

I posted at Og's that Anon the Pimp ought to at least provide an evaluation sample, sort of like what the holster and lazer manufacturers do here for JayG.

Seems only reasonable, no? Ought to be a very interesing product evaluation post?

And as I recall, once Bush Jr. had the necessary equipment at Crawford, there was not really any further expense involved aside from staff and transportation. I don't think the same can be said for Martha's Vineyard, Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard, and wherever the Obamas go on "date nights." The plethora of golf weekends doesn't really help the image either, even if they are harmless in and of themselves.

Oh yeah, and another thing: can those Asian Indian women shoot as well as US and northern Canadian women? Can they reload ammo? If not, don't advertise on this site, bucko.

Frum is not a Republican.

Frum plays a Republican on TV.

Sorta like Jon Huntsman.
