Yeah, I got my alliteration on for this one.
Some dude you may have heard about reviews some cool gear.
At some point down the road I'd like to get a S&W M&P45 for a house gun. It's rugged, has 10+1 rounds of G-d's Own Pistol Caliber .45 ACP at the ready, and comes with a handy rail for flashlights and the like (bayonet...). This seems like a natural addition for a full-size gun that's going to serve as the "go-to" gun for things that go bump in the night.
Chance makes an excellent point - one I'd like to reiterate - about the weapon-mounted light NOT being a substitute for a traditional flashlight. This is a light that's for use in the same manner as your defensive arm itself - if the light comes on, it should only be in response to a perceived threat with the willingness to use deadly force behind it. If you need a light, grab a Surefire.
Good review, Chance, and that looks like an excellent addition to one's home defense sidearm.
That is all.

I done got me an M&P 45 as my carry gun. I have no complaints thus far, other than that it's not a 1911. The swappable backstraps are nice, the grip angle isn't as extreme as a Glock, it's easier for me to conceal than a G21 (thanks to the the bulbous butt end of the Glock) and it doesn't feel as top heavy (to me) as the XD.
Spare 10 round mags are expensive, though, so building up a stockpile will take me some time. You can actually get the 14 round extended grip mags (usually in tan) for less than the 10 rounders, but a gun with a two-tone grip thats longer than the slide looks a bit goofy in a holster (I could damn near hold the thing like a broadsword if I wanted to)
Chris, but an extended mag might make a great reload for you.
If the mags aren't S&W factory, make sure to test the for reliability before trusting your life with them.
BTW Eric Shelton formally of the Handgun Podcast is a huge fan of weapon lights and he always pointed out that low ready allows you to bounce the light off walls and floors to illuminate things WITHOUT muzzling them, and you can still blind somebody when you ID them as "Foe"
Weer'd
Oh, I got one anyway, for just that reason. A bullet holder is a bullet holder, and if I've drained the mag currently in the gun, I really don't care what its replacement looks like.
They are S&W factory mags, BTW. I just don't think they sold very well (They were meant for the M&P's with tan frames), hence the discount. Cramming that 14th round in there is a realy bitch, though, and it does have some trouble seating when the mag is full and the slide is forward. I usually download it by 1.
Sorry about the off-topic, Jay. I've not used the rail for anything yet, but I'm thinking about a light for use on the gun when it's not being carried. I like the small size and weight compared to some other units I've seen.
