Headlines That Could Only Come From California...

Motorcycle gang war started at Starbucks

The latest bloody feud among outlaw motorcycle gangs in California and Nevada grew out of a battle over which gang could hang out at a Starbucks coffee shop in Santa Cruz.

“Only in Santa Cruz could you have biker wars over who’s going to control pumpkin spice lattes,” says Santa Cruz deputy police chief Steve Clark. “It was all about who could hang out at Starbucks.”
Now, don't get me wrong - this is deadly serious business. It's all about turf and respect, and the penalty for disregarding either can be death. These guys do not mess around - if they tell you you're not allowed somewhere, it's in your best personal interest to get as far from "somewhere" as possible. It's just interesting to see that Starbucks, that yuppie hipster icon, is the centerpiece around which this gang war revolves...

It's kinda like the incongruity of the Hell's Angels suing Disney...

That is all.

Obviously, this violence is the result of Snake stepping on Eightball's chihuahua.

No one steps on Chuy. No one.

And the Brady Bunch and CSGV made fun of us for wanting to open carry in Starbucks.

Give them 24 hours and their respective Twitter feeds will be filled with "This is why Starbucks should ban teh Ebil Gunz!!!111eleventy!"

of course, it is Friday. They may wait until Monday to start. Wouldn't want to post things to Twitter on the weekend. Joyce doesn't pay overtime.

I can see getting angry over being forced to drink Starbucks coffee, but to kill for the (ahem) privilege?

That's madness.

Ridiculous, but then again it IS Kalifornia...

If I tried to use this in a plot, my editor would laugh me right off the client list . . . as Old NFO says, only in California.
