Well, as you no doubt know, the "Kilted to Kick Cancer" fundraiser ends at 11:59PM tonight. The donations will be tallied, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place decided, and either I or Kelly will have to wear a funny shirt. Just from what's available on LiveStrong, we've raised over $4,000 for cancer research - not bad for a bunch of gunbloggers and EMS bloggers.
For the last day, I used a Photobucket app to put together a mosaic of all the Kilted Jay pictures (yes, even *that* one):
Some of the pictures were serious, some silly, some public, some at home. I've worn a kilt out in public on one of the busiest highways in Massachusetts, to the grocery store, to Dunkin' Donuts to get coffee, to a gun store, and to the range. I've talked to folks about prostate cancer and why I was wearing a kilt, and I helped by being a part of the Kilted to Kick Cancer campaign. I'm proud of this.
I want to thank everyone who participated: First off, to Kelly for organizing this. He's the one that kicked me in the butt to take part, and nudged me to ramp up the efforts with his side-contest. I won't know until later which one of us has "won", but I do know that the competition was good for the fundraiser, that's for certain.
I want to thank the folks who put up links and graphics on my behalf. I really appreciate that you took the time to write a post, or come up with a graphic, or talk to your readers about donating through my corner of the world. It's amazing what a difference a little reaching out can make - in one week I raised three times as much money as the previous three.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who donated to the cause. Not just through me, but to any of the gun- and EMS-bloggers participating in the Kilted to Kick Cancer fundraiser. Even if you donated through someone else, or threw your support to someone else, you still kicked in to help a great cause. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, with all my gratitude and appreciation, thank you.
And, of course, I have to close with the obligatory links for donations, which can be made at www.pcf.org/kilted7 or my Kilted to Kick Cancer Team Page.
There's still 18 hours to donate, to help put me on top (at least to beat Kelly; sheesh...) and to give just a little more to cancer research. One of my contributors donated to, and this is their words, "kick cancer's ass". I like that a lot. Maybe we can use that next year?
Oh, and next year I will have my own kilt...
That is all.
