Clerk Kills Would-Be Robber Who Grabbed Daughter
NAPLES, Fla. – Sheriff's officials in southwest Florida say a clerk at a 24-hour food store shot and killed a man who tried to rob her and take her 1-year-old daughter.
Store owner Del Ackerman told the Naples Daily News (http://bit.ly/rnKaJe ) his granddaughter shot the man after he stormed into the store Tuesday afternoon and demanded money and grabbed the stroller that held her baby.[pauses to let cheers and whoops die down]
Got that? A female clerk with two small children in tow, working in the family store, had some lunatic come in, ask for the money, and make threatening moves towards one of her kids. He's lucky she had a gun, because it sounds like she would have ripped his head off and s**t down his neck if she'd been unarmed... Do not mess with the mama bear unless you happen to like sucking chest wounds.
There's something of significant interest in the article that Brad_in_MA sent in:
As the man made for the front door with the child, Easterly did just as she had been taught — she drew a gun and aimed for the would-be robber’s knee, Ackerman said. Now, putting aside whether this is a good idea or not (I don't think it is), it's interesting that she aimed for the knee - the old "just shoot them in the leg" - and the suspect ended up dying anyways. People raised on a steady Hollywood diet of gunplay think that, even in the confusion of a robbery, folks will have time to make careful aim at a relatively small target (compared to a torso). Not only that, but those types of wounds are thought to be less life-threatening - when in fact they can often lead to death as quickly or quicker than a center of mass shot. Nick the femoral artery and the suspect runs; all that precious blood just pumps right out while the muscles are moving...
In any case, the anti-freedom folks, of course, would rather see this woman and her two children killed over the $75 in the register rather than some goblin expiring as a result of his misdeeds...
Dead Goblin Count: 205
That is all.

Of course, if you keep this up, you might have to set the JNS (Jay's News Service). Hmmm, Press Credentials, White House Press Corps Briefings, Embeds in Hotspots, Special In-Depth Reports, hmmm, might be a few Bucks to be made.
"Mosbach says the clerk shot the man as he headed toward the door with the child."
If the Bad Guy was carrying the kid, I would think that aiming low would put the child less at risk of getting shot. That's the way I'd be thinking, anyway.
Nancy R. echoed my thought - I know better, but if he was carrying my kid I would likely go for a leg shot myself. You do not want any overpenetration issues in that nightmare scenario.
It should also be noted that this is one of those unusual cases where shooting someone in the back is absolutely perfectly justified.
Try to take someone's kid and you should damn well expect to take a bullet.
Good job mama!
Just to clarify, my comment about not thinking it was a good idea was intended towards the piolicy of training to shoot at the leg.
Maybe she was trained to SAY she was aiming for the knee. Less likely to have to defend herself in court if she only "accidently" killed him while defending herself.
I agree that this is one of those cases where the Brady Campaign is right (that pains me). I would jab out his eyes or gut him like a fish if one of my daughters was in danger. No firearm would be necessary for me to end his life.
Hey she could have been pulling a Jayne and aiming for the head and hitting them in the knee...
Right on. Choose one: Gun owner or Victim.
Guess which one the politicians and liberaltards would rather you become?
Lock and Load America...
