So, I'm taking a half-day off work today. For Halloween, the elementary school that TheBoy and BabyGirl G. attend was going to put on a dance performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Apparently there's an approved "Thriller Dance" and some movement to get into the Guinness Book of World Records with the most number of people doing this "Thriller Dance" etc. etc. The school is not participating, but they thought it would be a neat idea to have the kids put on the dance for Halloween. It was a totally voluntary thing - after school lessons and such - and BabyGirl G. signed up and really got into it.
Well, the best laid plans, as they say... It was scheduled for Halloween (Monday), but school was closed Monday because of the weekend snowstorm. We never lost power in our town, but the other two towns in the region had no power, so school was canceled across the board. Naturally, Mrs. G. took Monday off from work to be available to help with the dance (plus she worked the overnight shift all weekend, so having the extra day to get back on days was needed). Well, the dance was rescheduled to today at 2. Mrs. G. couldn't get the time off, so I'm headed to the school to help BabyGirl G. get zombified and then record the dance for posterity.
BabyGirl G. has really gotten into the dance - she's been practicing at home every single night since they started the practice after school. She has the moves down cold - she's seen the "learn the Thriller dance" video on YouTube several dozen times and she can match the dancer in the video step-for-step. When she heard that Mrs. G. would be unable to make the recital she was sad - there was no way I could let all that hard work go unrecognized, so I put in for a half-personal day. I'll help with the zombie makeup as best I can (not much) and then take pictures and get video as well. Expect the world's cutest zombie pics later...
Wouldn't miss it for the world.
That is all.

Jay,
You may not know this but the long version Thriller video from nealy 30 years ago (yes, that long) was directed by John Landis. You may recognize the name . . . he directed Animal House, among many other fine works of the silver screen.
Bluto: Seven years of college down the drain !!!!
- Brad
Jay: Can't wait for pictures.
Brad: Shoot. Me. Now. That would have been the equivalent of me learning to jitterbug at that same age.
Pictures??? :-) Hope they made it into the book!
You have to post what I am sure will be an awesome video of the kids doing this. I know I want to see it. I'm sad thought that I lost many of the old VHS tapes that had a bunch of my kids school activities on them when I moved to Texas.
