Gone Shootin'...

It's been a damn good gunnie weekend. Didn't get to do any shooting yesterday, but I attended a gunnie birthday party yesterday afternoon (where, yes, on the table of gifts was a twelve-pack of beer, a box of good cigars, and a rifle as part of the presents...). After that, we went to a local Christmas party where I discovered two more gunnies in my hometown. I knew that a couple of the folks attending (and not just the men!) were shooters; I had no idea there were quite so many in my town.

And now I'm off to the range. One of my new shooters from last year is getting into the whole gun thing wholeheartedly. He got his permit earlier this year, and recently inherited a number of firearms from his dad that he's just itchin' to take to the range and try out. His pre-teen son - who shoots .22LR with the Boy Scouts - is coming with us to try out the new rifles.

It's gonna be a good gunnie day indeed...

That is all.

Sounds like a fantastic weekend! I didn't make it to the range but I was able to stock up on some ammo

Actually it was a SxS 20ga; one of my grail guns.

And, thanks, Jay.

More shooters means more guns to fondle and shoot, NOTHING wrong with that! :-)

I took a friend's kids out for the first time.

They had lots of fun, even though my 22 rifle was a bit too big. Guess I should pickup a kids 22.

Any suggestions?

Gunnie weekends are GOOD weekends. I didn't get to shoot this weekend, and I'm sure I'll regret it next weekend. On the plus side, I *DID* attend my gun club's Christmas party, facilitate the purchase of a rife for a friend of mine (it was a friend of a friend selling it so I acted as the go between) and also arranged a deal on a Glock 26 for my wife (I get a S&W 10-5 out of the deal that she bought and wasnt especially atytached to). Picked up a case of ammo, did the last of my Xmas shopping online, and spent this afternoon sorting my 5gal buchet of range brass while watching season 3 of ST:TNG (now on season 4). So all and all the weekend didnt suck.

Good on ya, Jay! Getting newbies started is what gunnies do best!
