School Warns Parents Dead Daughter Can't Go to Prom
The parents of a British teen, who died suddenly two months ago, received a disturbing letter from the girl's high school saying she needs to improve her attendance or can't go to the prom, the Manchester Evening News reported.Yeah. Way to keep the school records updated, morons. Any bets on whether or not grief counselors were called in, and/or a three day conference on feelings was booked when the girl passed? This is what happens when administration, bean counters, and zero tolerance take over. If X then Y - if [student] has missed [number] days, then [student] cannot/must [action]. There's no accounting for extenuating circumstances - like, oh, the student's passing.
The letter said Megan Gillan's attendance was 60.4 percent and the school requires its students to keep a 92 percent attendance record.
A database is only as good as the people entering the information, and in this case, the people entering the information were bureaucrats...
That is all.

Wait... bureaucrats are people? I've been wrong this whole time!
It's all about money/day/student attending. Surprised they didn't fudge their attendance records to get more funds!
That's horrible...not just stupid, but what a horrible letter to get in the mail. I mean...I can only imagine that at the 2 month point, you are starting to move on with life, and then to tear that wound open again...
Very, Very lame.
Kinda reminds me of when Bernie Lewinsky got letters asking for DNC donations AFTER Slick Willie schtupped his daughter.

The level of stupid at that place is nigh unbelievable, except it's a school so we expect it.
How terribly sad that whole situation is. And I bet the parents will be waiting a very, very long time for an apology.
We can all take turns holding the bastard down while the rest of us dance on his head.
