A MArooned First!

I'd like to roll out a MArooned first: Our first contest.

I was contacted by the good folks at 123Print about a contest they're sponsoring. Normally I don't participate in these sorts of contests, but I recently updated my blog business cards, and made use of 123Print's business card section for the new cards. I found their web interface easy to use, being able to add pictures and such to the card, and was very pleased with their prices and the quick delivery - and the final product looked great!

Here’s how to enter the contest: In the comments section, tell us how you will use your supplies and how you would use other promotional items that you can see on 123Print.com. The winner will be chosen based on the best ideas. Be sure to post a real email address that we can contact you at if you’re the winner. Comments must be posted by Friday, May 11th at 5:00 PM EST. If you’re the winner, we’ll notify you via email (U.S. residents only are eligible for the contest due to legal restrictions).

Here's the kicker: The prize is $500 worth of office items. You can order business cards for your blog. You can order banners, fliers, magnets, Post-It® notes - anything they offer, all with your logo on it. All for dropping a quick comment - how can you go wrong? And like I said, the one reason I didn't delete the e-mail is that I have done business with 123Print and been very satisfied with their product.

Go, enter, win some printing!

That is all.

As I am a board member for Florida Carry, I would use this to help promote civil rights here in Florida.

As a non-profit, we run on a shoetring budget (and all the shoes are Velcro). Having some extra business cards and banners would allow us to expand our message greatly.

my email for this would be robb.allen (at) floridacarry.org

As a board member for a non for profit private range, I would use my business cards to raise awareness of the club, increase membership and support the community.

I have been passing out business cards to people buying firearms at gun stores, especially new shooters.

I have also passed out business cards to organizations like Big Brothers / Big Sisters in order to help them with activities for their Matches (Littles/Bigs).

We would probably use the promotional materials to publicize our out reach activities like our Annual Youth Day. Being able to print out flyers and sent them to different organizations (Scouts, Church Groups, Boys & Girls Club, etc) would help increase attendance.

my email would be 3boxes_at_gmail.com

FWIW- I used them to make some magnetic business signs for the truck. Good price, cheap ship, & 2 years later, they're still good.

Rob and Bob have the same idea I did.
I'm on the executive board of the Connecticut Citizens Defense League. Not only are we a registered non-profit, we don't even require dues to become a member. We are 100% donation funded, and $500 would go a long way. Just a few weeks ago we were discussing the need for a second banner so we could have a presence a 2 different locations at the same time. In the last 2 weekends we've printed and handed out several thousand flyers promoting our 2A Rally at the state capitol this coming saturday, and we could have done twice that if we had another banner to set up at another location. Email for this would go to "events at CCDL dot US".

My best friend and I are in the process of opening up an FFL that will specialize in serving folks that normal FFL's neglect; we're aiming to fit neatly in the gap between the Fudd oriented Rod and Gun Club type places, and the more common Tactical Tommy Hiltrigger stores. We'll also be running CCW classes as often as possible, and generally doing our best to be good ambassadors for 2A issues.

I'm a middle school substitute teacher in NW Ohio. The economy and job market blow donkeys, so I'd use all that swag as giveaways at school I sub for, advertising my EXTREME availability for a full-time gig.

Thanks.

I'm going to be starting graduate school for special education in August. My needs would run mostly toward business cards, with those needed for my private tutoring advertisement/reference, my services in the entertainment industry (singing, photography, makeup), professional contacts for educational purposes throughout school, and some for my blog (because I was, embarrassingly, without contact cards at the convention, and I know they would have helped in some instances).

For billing purposes, rubber stamps for my standard prices and signature would be invaluable.

Address labels and car magnets for both personal and business use wouldn't go unappreciated, either.

I'm in a weird position where I can't afford to get the items necessary to promote my services, because the money I make through my services isn't very much, and I'm not charging an arm and a leg to help a learning-disabled student just so that I can afford to buy business cards. It would be nice to have some, though, so that I can make it known to others that I'm available to help them.

DM is in dire need of some gunsmithing business cards, frankly. They will come in very handy for marketing himself for a job after he finishes his classes, and for contacts within the industry. Some customized order sheets for the work he does privately would probably send him over the moon. He doesn't have the money to get this kind of stuff and would never enter himself, though, so I'm doing it for him.

If anything were left after I set him up right, I might make up some blog cards for myself, since I've never had any.

If I were to win this contest, I'd use the prize to have a quantity of small magnetic signs printed up for public distribution. This would be for the purpose of spreading the word on why Obama should not be re-elected this November.

I would use the money to buy mugs and magnets with the hardcover of my upcoming book and I would use them as promotional items and freebies, possibly as part of a Kickstarter campaign.

The cover features BACON and GLOCK - what could be a better idea than that?

And this is a for profit plan, the profits from the book will be reinvested in actual bacon and Glocks (starting with the G20, then a G33, then a G21).

I'd share the wealth. Some cards for my living history group. Maybe have some printed up for the guys who are dong the KTKC gig and want to have something to hand out. Dontate some to the local TEA Party.

I'm the director and coach of a non-profit juniors volleyball club. We provide a competitive volleyball training environment for teenage girls and charge a fraction of what other volleyball clubs charge. What money we do have goes to jerseys, registrations, practice facilities and equipment. I would love to have some business cards for my volunteer coaches, some fliers, banners, and some personalized give-away items for the players like pens, notepads, etc.

I would use them to shamelessly promote myself, duh. What else? I need blog cards, dammit!
I have an photo taken of me by none other than Oleg Volk, for crying out loud.

As a bored (unlike Robb) member of Florida Carry, I would donate my winnings to Florida Carry in exchange for a Lifetime Membership.
I often comment on Robb's blog so he knows ( I hope) who to credit the membership to.

I would use the winnings to make promotional materials for the New England Harmony Brigade, an organization I'm busily helping to set up this year. (We're going to put on a heck of a show in Marlborough in September; go to www.nehb.net and check it out.)

Who am I kidding? Jay isn't going to pick this entry as a contest winner. (Although if he did, I'd comp him a couple of tickets to the show. Just saying.)

I'm torn - I'm the State Coordinator for Project Appleseed, and I was also just named to the board of directors for the Gun Owner's Action League. So both organizations could use those products!

Project Appleseed - I'd have some large vinyl banners made: one for use at gun shows, with our name on it, and one for use at the shoots - this one would have a map showing the routes that Paul Revere, William Dawes, Colonel Smith (and his Redcoats) and Hugh Lord Percy (and HIS Redcoats!) took from Boston to Concord and back again on 4/19/1775. I'd have some "yard signs" made as directional signs showing the direction to the ranges that we hold our shoots at. I'd have business cards made up for our Instructors, all with a 1" square on the back and the Rifleman's Challenge. Heck, if I can squeeze them out of that $500, I'd even get some car magnets made up for the Instructors to serve as rolling billboards for Project Appleseed.

For GOAL, I'd simply talk to the good people in Northboro and find out where $500 of printing services can be best used to continue GOAL's excellent work of supporting the gun owners of the Bay State - most likely for printing envelopes, cards & rack cards, I'd imagine. Office Manager Tara would get the joyous task of thinking what to do with it!

Actually, Jay... if you do choose me I'll have to split it up between the two organizations.

I need blog cards since I will be attending SHOT this year and in honor of Jay I feel it important to use these cards to assist me in acquiring a serious amount of t/e stuff for review.

Of course since my reviews go on my blog for all to see its really all of you who win lol.

I would also gladly donate the required amount of printing for some kilted to kick cancer calendars. If all the guys who put up kilt pics last year donated a few pictures I could sell the calendars with the cash going to KTKC charities.

Seriously kilted men can outsell sniper babes anyday right ????

I'd donate the package to the roller derby league MrsZ skates in; they're a not-for-profit group of women from 18 to *mumble* that skate because they love it. 10% of their proceeds from every match get donated to a local charity - last month was the American Cancer Society, the local free library is on the list, and so forth.

Advertising is 'spensive, and they could well use the money to bump their bout attendance.

Nancy R. said...

Mike - I would SO buy a calendar!

I became suddenly self-employed about a month and a half ago (got sacked, decided it was time to pursue a lurking biz idea), without time to prepare promotional materials for my new venture. I would use the prize to get myself set up with business cards, flyers, letterhead, and other items to support the sales and promotion end of my new line of work. Also, if they have such, a rubber duck to help with my debugging. :)

Ed said...

If I won, I would donate the prize to Robb Allen of Florida Carry. I share his goal of Open Carry and Constitutional Carry in Florida and all other states that do not have Open Carry and Constitutional Carry, especially Massachusetts. He would be a much more effective advocate than me.

I would probably use it to help promote my dads business. In this economy, small business owners need all the help they can get.

Stithjim said...

In all honesty, I'd probably make business cards. One side would be my Hammie contact info, the other side would be about how awesome I am.

A young, single guy needs good looking cards to pick up the ladies :P
