One thing about this set of dueling pistols that was pointed out? The distinct lack of a ramrod. These were pistols designed to be fired once and only once.

McArthur Flintlock
The one next to this one in the showcase had two barrels, as was common in the days when it could take up to 20 seconds to load a sidearm - showing that even in the early days folks saw the need for extra capacity.

Color me stupid , but without a ramrod, they appear to be designed never to be fired. You still need to tamp the charge and ball to make boom sound correct?

I'm not certain who made those - they were part of a raffle for the NMLRA booth.

The idea was that the guns would both be loaded before hand - using a separate ramrod - and could not be reloaded during the duel...

Shoulda bought a semi-trailer load of them in the 1980s........
