On the other hand, though, I'll be meeting up with some good friends, some I've met before, some I'll be meeting for the first time. For me, this is the biggest reason for going to the NRA Annual meeting, especially this year. I've seen the new releases at SHOT Show; this will be a chance to get more pictures, certainly, and hopefully my buddy Lars will be around for another camera war. It's meeting folks that I've interacted with through blogs, forums, and other online venues face-to-face that's the big reason for making the trek each year.
Right now we've got the Thursday night meet-and-greet at the Millennium, but no other planned dinner events of which I am aware. There's a ton of really good restaurants in the downtown St. Louis area (although local "Snowdog" advises us not to go north of the city, something to keep in mind), so finding a place to eat shouldn't be an issue. How handy they are holding the convention in St Louis. I just learned that St Louis has something like 10,000 gang members. I imagine they will be a bit scarce near the convention site. One of these days when I get a bit more competent with my weapon, I will attend myself. Plus I gotta go to SHOT someday.
Any truth to the rumors that obama will be honored at the meeting as the firearm salesman of the year?

There's some GREAT food in Soulard. McGurk's Irish Pub is one of my favorites but there are so many great choices in the neighborhood, I'd recommend heading that direction for food, and there are few choices that would be bad ones. And its only about 2 miles from the convention center.
