Continuing a Trend...

Linoge hits it out of the park with this post. I'll add mine with one of my favorites:

In keeping with the spirit of Linoge's post, I'll expand on my comments therein. I own an AK-47 pattern rifle and an AR-15 for precisely the spirit of his post. Back in the aughts, the BATFEIEIO decided that AK parts kits were far too dangerous to be imported, and ceased the importation thereof. A kit you could buy for ~ $100 containing a barrel, stock, etc. and only needed a new receiver to make whole was not allowed - so I had to have one.

The AR-15 was pretty much the same idea. Back in late 2008, when Barry O had won the presidency and it seemed like Chicago-style politics - and gun control - were going to be the norm, I figured it was better to get off my @$$ and get an AR to complement my AK just to be on the safe side. Now, after 3+ years of fiddling around with the Legos err, AR platform, I see how much fun they are and I've got another one in the works (and possibly a third on the horizon...).

It's a uniquely American outlook, I think - tell us we can't have something and we want it that much harder. Witness Prohibition - folks were willing to risk going blind over not being able to knock back an adult beverage. It starts out when we're kids - the easiest way to insure that your kids will find their way into the verboten cookie jar is to tell them that they absolutely cannot have one... Hence why it's so important to be open with your kids about guns rather than hide them away and pretending they don't exist, but I digress...

There's a time and place for "BECAUSE F**K YOU THAT'S WHY". There are folks that will not listen to any sort of reason whatsoever - the CSGV or Brady's come to mind - and this is the place for it. For someone honestly on the fence, show them a Robert Vogel video as to the insanity of making a 15 round magazine illegal - he can fire 10 rounds and load another magazine faster than most folks can empty a 20 rounder... Heck, for that matter, watch Jerry Miculek shoot a tuned S&W revolver. It is not the tool, and anyone with an even halfway open mind will be able to see that.

For those whose minds are slammed shut like a steel trap, "BECAUSE F**K YOU THAT'S WHY" works just fine...
