Well, getting the Ruger LCR changed that metric - I found myself using the LCR for pocket carry more and more, as it's lighter than the 38, is +P rated, and is hammerless for smoother draw. I'll still toss a J-frame IWB from time to time, so it was only natural to swap out the grips and put the Crimson Trace Laser Sight Grips on the Snubbie from Hell™:
That's about the most high-tech revolver I can think of right there - exotic metals, laser sights, and at heart it's still a 12 ounce .357 Magnum that, as AD says, "kills on one end and hurts on the other". The CT grips will make an already excellent concealed carry gun even better, allowing for faster followup shots assuming that the laser dot can be discerned on a goblin whose clothes are on fire...
I think it's time to get this back to the range, come to think of it...

I really like the design of that grip, but don't have the dough to for over for the laser. Don't you think it would be cool if Crimson Trace would make one without the laser in it?
Oh, and there I go again with my fruitless search for the perfect j-frame grip...
I do not envy your hand and arm when you touch off that beast. If my 636 with +P 158 gr. Buffalo Bore is PAINFUL. Your .357 snub will be - - - Arrrghhhh.
I shot TBolt with that gun.
It doesn't hurt on the other, it just makes you tingle for a while ;)
I have the Ruger LCR in .357. I believe it comes in at just over 17 oz. The first time I shot it with .357s, I had a heck of a surprise from the recoil. Subsequent times haven't been as bad, since I knew what to expect. It has become my daily carry piece, either in a pocket holster, or a SideGuard "The Slide" OWB holster, which is easily concealed by my shirt tails. I love my LCR! The S&W Airweights are nice, but I like the additional eight and the Hogue Tamer grips on the LCR a little more. I also really like the smooth trigger pull and that it has no external hammer spur. Ruger really knocked it out of the park with the LCR, in my book.
Another Snubbie from Hell that you may be reporting on soon is the Charter Bulldog. I held mine like I would my .357 the first time I shot it with factory 240gr loads and got a light graze on the forehead. Since then I've learned a more stiff-armed grip and have loaded lighter practice ammo. When you do your report I'll be interested to see how you compare it to your Snubbie from Hell.
