This is a Smith & Wesson model SW99 full size. This particular model is the .40 S&W variant, which is visually identical to the 9mm and .45 ACP series. Smith & Wesson made this series in conjunction with Walther, who makes the P99 series in 9mm and .40 S&W only.
Here's the Walther P99:
Hence why I think the firearm in question (see the links) is the SW99 and not the P99...

Oooohhhh pretty. *grin*
Teresa,
I've shot the SW99 in .40 and can tell you first hand it points really well. It is comfortable and recoil is quite acceptable. I wouldn't mind trying one in .45ACP either. Hmmmm . . . .must continue to work on my wife.
Theresa,
The one on top is mine, the other is a stock photo for comparison.
So only the top one is up for grabs when we get together to go shooting... (No, I haven't forgotten...)
;)
brad,
Keep working. Someday, my friend... Someday we'll shoot a Garand match together.
LOL - I haven't either - it's that little issue of time thing... one of these days we'll get things to work out.
I'd agree that it's probably an SW99 due to the trigger guard.
However, please note that a couple of years ago (2004) they changed the accessory rail to a "picatinny" style rail.
See this link for more info...
The picture above is not a Smith & Wessen SW99. It is of a pre 2004 Walther P99. Don't be fooled. While they do look similar they are not the same.
