Anyone got any leads on finding a new stock for a Universal M1 Carbine? I mentioned it in my post on rifles a couple of days ago, and have decided I want to see if I can get it running.
The gun is definitely pre-ban (hell, I owned it in September of 1994), so I can use a folding stock if applicable. Wood preferred, as close to USGI as will fit a Universal M1 Carbine.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
That is all.

Cheaper Than Dirt has original take-off stocks. Mostly M2, but a few M1's. They also sell a good repro wire folder.

I was going to say Gun Parts also but Chris beat me to it.
Was the rifle in a banned config prior to Sept '94? Stock M1 carbines only have one evil feature, the bayonet lug.
rabbit,
One problem: Cheaper Than Dirt won't ship anything gun related to MA... (And I don't think the USGI stocks will fit a Universal).
Chris & Mike,
Numrich. I should have looked there first... I think we have a winner... $42 plus shipping? Yeah, that's worth it to see if I can get the ol' girl running again.
zeeke42,
Came with a telescoping stock. That qualifies it, doesn't it? Since it's got two eeeevil features and all...
Seems like a moot point, anyways - given that the replacement stock is so inexpensive.
I do believe I have me a winter project!
Sarco has a boatload of parts for the 'universal'. It is my understanding that not all GI parts will work on the universal - but I'm not sure which.
Jay as far as CTD not shipping parts to Maine, if you want have them ship them to me and I can re-ship them to you. I'm down in S.E.TX so you might have to pay sales tax, or I can set it up with one of my brothers in St. Louis to forward something for you if you really really wanted/needed it.
Thanks Mark, that's nice of you to offer.
I have friends in NH that have offered to do just that, so if I needed something from CTD I'd go that route.
Plus us MA gunnies are kinda boycotting CTD for not shipping here...
